Although I voted in your poll for John McCain, I would much prefer Colin Powell, although that's a forlorn hope. Sigh. :(

Arnold Schwarzenegger? I know it's unconstitutional, but being a Brit I'd find that pretty hilarious.

As a Connecticut Yankee... I hate to point out that Joe may not even win his Senate seat this year due to the BS the dems have thrown on him. (I'll vote for him regardless).

Anyway, Joe knows he can never be Prez. Someone would shoot him just for being Jewish.

Otherwise Gore, becuase I really don't think he can beat ANY republican he goes up against.

I want George Bush as president again because I like how he runs things. Not that it's great, but the material they give to The Daily Show and Colbert Report keeps me in stitches.

Actually, I've heard a pretty convincing argument that it wouldn't be unconstitutional.

Although a certain clause within the Constitution serves to directly forbid naturalized citizens from becoming president, the Fourteenth Amendment supercedes that clause. By guaranteeing "equal protection under the law" to all citizens born and naturalized, this amendment overturns any previous constitutional clause that would have granted any special priviledge (such as exclusive right to the presidency) to citizens by birth.

So if Arny wanted to run, he probably could, after a lengthy court battle culminating in a decisive Supreme Court decision.

How does having "equal protection under the law" give an American citizen the right to run for president? Having "equal protection" does not mean that a naturalized American citizen can exert that power politically, or, especially since it was made for civil rights purposes more than political ones, in terms of naturalized citizens. If what you say is true, though, that means that I could run for president in the future.

Yeah well... At this point all of the other Dems have managed to alienate me so much that they'd have to make one hell of an effort to convince me to vote for them. I suppose that someone coming outside of the bunch of sell-outs and wusses in DC would be a good choice too.

The same way that the Supreme Court can find the right to privacy in the constitution as the right to an abortion. It’s there if nine old judges say it’s there.:(
