Do you know a famous person?

I was just curious if anyone knew someone or is related to someone famous.

I'm 2nd cousins with an actor from the show Roswell. He's appeared on various talkshows and the sort. He also was the second leading actor in the movie the Grude(the recent American version). Do any of you know who I'm talking about?

Does that work?

Hmm, I saw several episodes of that show, I think. I'd probably recognize him if you showed me a pic, but can't remember his name or face off the top of my head.

My dad's cousin (my... cousin once removed? second cousin? I suck at remembering that) is an astronaut. Not exactly famous, but he went up to the space station on STS-110 back in 2002. I got to see the launch from the family site, it was really cool. :D My dad's other cousin works in Hollywood doing something or other in the film industry - not sure what, but I know he's had his name in the credits of some movies. Oh, and my boyfriend's great-grandfather (or is it great-great? can't remember) was a co-founder of Texas Instruments.

I suppose he's not really "famous", but he's known enough to be on the almighty Wiki

CPT Rozelle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Rozelle#Capt._David_M._Rozelle)

He took over our unit shortly after we got back from Iraq. Good guy, all things considered.

edit: I also met this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lewis_E._Welshofer_Jr.)guy a couple of times. I also knew SFC Sommer pretty well, who is mentioned in the "Prisoner Abuse" section on the 3d ACR wiki page.

I've met Gallagher, some lady that was an Olympic runner, retired NBA players..

Haven't really met anyone that's uber famous..

I meet more local people like James Curvey and Dick Yuengling.

My grandfather was a judge who took on some important cases.

Heh, my mom was telling me how this woman she knows heard this joke about black poeple robbing people.. then she was in Atlantic City a few days ago and a group of black guys got on the elevator with her and said "Hit 4" she thought they said "Hit floor" like they were robbing her.. well the guys laughed and got off at their floor.

A few hours later the lady was in her room and she got a knock at the door, it was a delivery of a dozen roses with a card that said "I'm sorry for scaring you. - Michael Jordan" and each rose had a $100 bill wraped around it.

Ive only ever met two celebrities, both of wich are not extremely well known.

Kirk Maltby from the Detroit Red Wings.
Nice guy.

Jerry Only of The Misfits.

Jerry is a really, really nice guy.
I hope I dont ruin his image, but after a show the Misfits did in Pontiac MI, Jerry made it a point to come out to the floor and meet anyone who wished.
I went over to him, and tried to strike up a conversation with him.

Turns out Jerry is pretty down to earth for a Punk Legend.
I told him that I thought it was very cool, the way he comes out and sign autographs, and that it would be nice if more people like himself did the same.
He said that he really enjoys it, and would much rather meet his fans than sit in the dressing room and do nothing, and that to him, he couldnt imagine getting a big head about that sort of thing, since these very people are the ones who allow him to do what he does.

I like humility in a rock star, even a minor one.

I ended up talking to him for about 15 minutes, I think becuase I was neither being a Fanboy, nor speaking to him as anything other than just a guy.

Jerry also is pretty smooth with the ladies...

I didnt mention Glenn Danzig directly, but I did express my dissapointment with a certain ex-bandmate of Jerry's who is famously NOT so humble, who I said...shall remain nameless.

He smiled.

define know. I have met a lot of famous people because I used to work the concerts around here, you know get the band food, make them comfortable in our city, ect. I don't think that counts as "knowing them", if it does though I can post the list. ;)

Otherwise, since my husband is an actor I have met a few actors, some of them have been in pretty popular big time movies. I don't really "know" them either.

I talk to a lot of congressmen all day, not that I 'know' them, but they know me when I call, I think sometimes they just don't even want to talk to me. :p

Well, as long as we're listing people we've met and don't necessarily know all that well...

I know William Perry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Perry). He was my prof for a class about technology and national security. Good guy.

Doug Osheroff (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_D._Osheroff) was also a professor of mine. Physics, obviously.

I've taken several swimming classes from Richard Quick (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Quick). I already know how to swim, so they weren't swim lessons, just working on perfecting technique and designing workouts and stuff. Very nice guy.

I took a seminar from Peter Michelson, who isn't all that famous himself, but is the great-grandson (I think - it might be great-great-grandson) of Albert Michelson, of the Michelson-Morley experiment (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelson-Morley_experiment) fame. Nice guy, good prof.

I've taken several courses from David Kennedy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_M._Kennedy_%28historian%29). Not of the Kennedy family - that's the wrong Kennedy. He's an historian who won the Pulitzer Prize for his book Freedom From Fear. Another nice guy.

No. She nearly ran me over, driving a land rover. She was just turning into the long drive, in front of the copper horse, in Windsor great park, on the way back to the castle from morning tea with her mum at her mum's house in the park. (It was about 20 years ago now.)

My cousin had this band, called Fan Tan Alley, that was really big with the over 40 crowd in Victoria, back in the early 2000's. They never really made it in the mainstream, so they disbanded, and he works in production now.
My drama teacher has been in some really obscure commercials and TV spots.
I've met Jackson Davies, of Beachcombers fame (it was a professional meeting, not a social one).
And, of course, the boy I had a crush on in second grade was in a roadsense commercial, the one with the boys playing hide and seek in the dark.

EDIT: And my cousin played hockey in the WHL, and was quite a celebrity in Washington. He also played against Goldie Hawn's son, once, and my aunt so Goldie and Kurt in the parking lot.

I never thought much about it, but I went to grad school with the pilot that just landed the Space Shuttle. My neighbor is a Red Sox scout and I've met a couple kids that he signed.

Have I ever benefitted from this? Nope, not a ticket to a launch, nor to a ball game. But I do have a baseball with a John Rocker signature on it.

I'm related to Ethan Allen (American War of Independence) and Joseph Smith (founder of the Mormon Church).

This book (http://www.lifelonglooper.com/index.htm) is about my dad's uncle.

I also used to know Natalie Portman, but have not heard from her in several years. (And after her abysmal performance in Revenge of the Sith, I'm not sure I want to.) :p

I've met the guy who played John-Boy Walton and I've met Claudia Christian (Ivanovna on Babylon 5). I can't say I know them, though.

And on my 16th birthday (43 years ago) Frankie Avalon sang "Venus" to me.

I'm very distantly related to Thomas Edison.

It would have been great to know Claudia Christian biblically.

Okay, so I guess I am bored I will post the list of people I have met, people in bold I actually had a conversation with for more than 5 minutes.
(oh, and they are in no particular order, just who I thought of when or whatever)

Music-
Jonathan Davis
Billy Corgan (he's a bitch and I didn't like him much)
Scott Stapp (also annoying, but less so)
Scott Weiland
Sully Erna
John Popper
Peter Noone
Davy Jones
Mickey Dolenz
Ben Harper
Sebastian Bach
Brad Arnold (ended up in his tour bus for a few hours, he had shasta!)
David Grohl (super cool nicest guy ever!)

Movies/TV-
Kevin Smith (:( didn't get to talk to him, had questions, didn't get to ask them)
Patrick Bauchau
Jillian Armenante
and a bunch of producers you probably haven't heard of

Politics-
Tipper Gore
John McCain
Janet Napolitano
Ernest Istook
Tom Coburn
Bill Clinton
Jeb Bush

I think that's about all, I know some random people who I can't quite classify, but they aren't really anyone important (mostly comedians and you know Branson type folks.)

I actually count as a vaguely famous person myself - I had a full article on the front page of the second section in my local newspaper in seventh grade. (Gee, I wonder what that could have been for... :p )

In addition, I am related to the breeder of the female boxer with the most wins in American history (that would be my mother), and it is faintly possible that I am related to Harriet Beecher Stowe.

I'm related to Jessical Alba, although I'm not entirely sure of the relation... I think it's second or third cousin or something. Pretty lame, everytime I see her I think, "hot cousin.... DAMNIT!" :P

I don't know if this counts as famous, but my uncle Charlie Ergen is the founder, owner, etc. of Dish Network and whatever else he's acquired, making him probably the second-biggest provider of TV in North America and very, very rich.

I also personally know Mike Plumb, an 8-time Olympic equestrian. I've had riding lessons from him.
