Since when is New Jersey known as Nova Caesarea in Latin?

I was looking for the Latin name of New Jersey and found on wikipedia it is Nova Caesarea. How is that possible? Isn't Caesarea that place in Israel built by King Herod.

WIKI: New Jersey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_jersey)(English)
WIKI: Nova Caesarea (http://la.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nova_Caesarea)(Latin)

Look on the sidebar and they link to each other...

Maybe if there was anything for which the Romans were too lazy to come up with a unique name they just called it Caesarea?

Just another thing to add to the puzzle of Latin:

New York is called Novum Eboracum.

EDIT: I think I've solved it. York in the UK is called Eboracum, so maybe the isle of Jersey was known in LAtin as Caesarea.

Eboracum was the Roman name for York. ;)

Well, given the typical pattern of elision and/or metathesis as Latin traveled to English both directly and through French (mostly), "Caesar" and "Jersey" aren't all that far apart.

His lesser know hits, "Vercingetorix, Come out Tonight" and "Meeting Across the Rubicon" never fail to amaze.
