Game help

Well, birthday has been and gone, not particularly spectacular, had to spend it with my family which is a shame, however, it did mean I am now in the possesion of a fair amount of money.

Normally this wouldn't be a problem. However, I am completely out of ideas, and need some help. I'm looking to buy probably two Xbox 360 games, and can't think of what to buy. So, as any person of questionable sanity would do, I turn to the good people of NS General for help.

Guess what I'll ask.

I need you to recommend some good Xbox 360 games for me to consider :D (Surprised?) If you could also post links to reviews of said games I'd be most appreciative.

Try IGN's 360 site. (http://xbox360.ign.com/)

They seem to like these two:

It's not out until early next month, but Dead Rising (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Rising) looks very cool if you like zombie movies.

In Dead Rising, you are a news photographer trapped in a shopping mall with a few other survivors in the middle of the zombie apocalypse. You can use a variety of improvised weapons to fight the undead, such as golf clubs, flatscreen televisions, snow blowers, baseball bats, potted plants, pies, umbrellas, and so on, as well as "normal" action game weapons such as firearms. As the weapon options might imply, the game has something of a quirky sense of humor - for instance, if you want to, you can go into the video game store and put on a Megaman costume for no reason. It does nothing at all, but hey, you're in the mall with a bunch of dead people who want to eat you, so who's going to care, right?

There will be quite a bit of violence and gore, as the game will be rated 17+ M for Mature. One thing I hope isn't just hype is that apparently, the game will have up to 800 zombies onscreen at the same time.

So... umm... if you like zombies, hang on to some of that money until August 8, and check out Dead Rising. You'll want to read the reviews before you pick it up, ofcourse, but it's looking pretty good so far.

If I had an Xbox 360, I would reserve Dead Rising right now.
I saw a demo on the Software Etc demo video, you just pick up whatever is lying around and try to stave off the zombie incursion.

Dead Rising looks pretty sweet - might have to save myself for that one, for all that zombie games have never really been my cup of tea.

And other ideas or suggestions?

Call of Duty 2 (get it if your PC cannot handle it)

Need for Speed: Most Wanted, or Project Gotham

I agree, and depending on what genre is your best, either Oblivion or Top Spin 2.

Top Spin 2 is the only sports game so far with a decent career mode (FIFA World Cup is great too, if you love soccer/football)

Hitman: Blood Money, or the spanking new NCAA Football 07.

Ah CoD! Of course! Must add that to the list... Oh and I already have NFS :)

Already have Oblivion too :D And sports games aren't my scene (unfortunately - there being so damned many of them).

There is a difference between horror and street brawl, zombies or not. This is street brawl.

What about Hitman: Blood Money? Great shooter 3rd person Splinter-Cell-esque-if-Splinter-Cell-was-violent kind. Plus, one of the greatest ending sequences. I wont ruin it for you.

I've heard some good things about Chromehounds (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromehounds). How do you feel about mech sims?

I know :D Hence why I might well get it despite the zombies lol.

Hmm... I've played a bit of Hitman, and while it was pretty good, there was a bit too much hanging around waiting for that guard over there to move over here so I can sneak over here in this costume I spent ages getting, hoping no-one will spot me etc etc. Which is where Splinter Cell wins, because it's good, honest sneaking, not... well... suffice to say it doesn't appeal too much.

That being said the ending is pretty wicked awesome. Is it the one at the funeral? (He said, trying not to give anything away).

yeah I had my eye on that, it looks pretty cool. I was gonna wait a bit until the multiplayer scene hots up a tad, since it's primarily a MP based game, and I gather that the MP is a tad dry at the moment. It does look pretty sweet though.

Hitman isn't even remotely a shooter.

Get Splinter Cell Double Agent, if you can wait for it.

Get Fight Night Round 3.

I'm not a sports games fan. Nor a boxing fan, by any means. Its just a great game with great game mechanics. I was pretty hesitant to try it at first, but even just getting thrown a controller and control of muhammed ali, it felt fun to run around and do jabs, etc.

Then my friend bought it for playstation 2, and I got a chance to play it constantly. Its probably one of the games we play most now, and none of us really enjoy sports games.

Rent it, at least. Its an incredible game.
