(Possibly) Leaving?

Hockey Canada

Well NationStates people, I've pretty much had enough with the game and the people in it. Was there any doubt that when I first signed up back in January 2005 that I would put 1 year, 7 months and 17 days (as of today) of my life into this game? Problem is, I won't be missed to any extent. I have opinions that I have never really voiced on NationStates just because I feared for my KPB rank or even when I was clearly pissed with a few godmoding in regional conflict. Assuming I have a reason to come back, this could very well be my last post, and therefore want to make it something worth saying.

Atlantian Oceania has never really recognized my nation as the slightest contender in any conflict, diplomatic talks or competitions. I was one of the early members of the SDL and ever since n00bs have come they’ve run the place as if they own it. I’ve been treated less as a nation and more as a disobedient child to be cast aside while the real fighting begins. Never mind that I’ve been slowly gaining military technology, training and manpower. I’m sure someone would just godmod my numbers out of thin air and say they beat me.

SAAS is more or less an asshole-ish organization that says they’re superior but will probably never get off their asses. When you look at the so-called “major hubs” and the countries they’re in, you can’t be surprised that this work was done by a group of friends, more or less nations. Pacitalia, Commerce Heights, Starblaydia and Vilita believe they’re god’s gift to NationStates while Bedistan and Fmjphoenix have managed to get on that list without being assholes.

The World Cup has been nothing but an agonizing experience for me that seems to be waved in front of my face over and over. I started in World Cup 22 and didn’t even qualify until World Cup 25. I roleplayed constantly during all of the World Cups I never qualified for and on 2 occasions lost out on sheer goal differential to people who never roleplayed a single letter. By the time I did qualify for the World Cup my rank was so low I wrote multi-thousand character roleplays to even get into the Round-of-16 where I faced early departures.

A string of luck got me as far as the semi-finals in World Cup 26 where I lost in the consolation round. The same happened for World Cup 28 only to Liverpool England. I’ve never been considered a real contender in anything but my short stint in the Under 21 World Cups. Jeruselem and Nedalia were both allys and more or less my In-Character friends. Lord knows if a few World Cup Heavyweights would do that more we would have less ranting and more happiness.

But all rants aside, I have made a few friends over the many months here in NationStates. I would like to thank Iansisle, for getting me started in the whole NS sports competitions. Fmjphoenix for introducing me to irc and being a good friend through good times and bad times. I would like to thank Bedistan for being the only one other than myself that knows advanced calculus in irc, leading me to believe there actually is a god. Spaam was always funny, Oliverry was always there… either as an annoyance or keeping me sane. My Patio/Arctik taught me humility, and that even when you lose everything you can still come out laughing. I thank Jeruselem for striking an RP friendship along with Nedalia. Krytenia, for taking Hockey Canadian players and making them world class contenders. I’ll thank Nanakaland just for making me the 2nd stupidest person on irc, if he ever wakes up. Druida/Schiavonia for the innovative iceberg-beer transportation system... if it ever gets there. Spruitland has always been the quiet one in Antwerp, Antwerp and despite him being recently ceased, he’ll be back saying the rabbits were temporarily roadkill or something. I thank Vilita for treating me like crap when I first got to irc, I guess I received some of his n00b-hating for which I’m hostile now. LE has always been some sort of chum of mine, while TnUI gave me my first championship with U21WC17. I’ll actually thank Starblaydia for being a douche, because he’s a douche that’s kept me clean over time. Finally, I offer very special thanks to Max Barry, for giving myself and millions of others around the world our own nations and bringing us all together.

If there is one song I want to spam people with, it would have to be this little number. For I will likely never copy and paste lyrics onto a forum for some time.

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth it was worth all the while

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

I did have the time of my life and others who shared it with me made it that way.

Thank you everyone.

Thank you NationStates.

Really can't blame you if you feel that way - hell, I've been a bit bitter before and left over it and not said, so actually saying so is a lot better than I managed!

See ... when I leave (and leave I eventually shall) there will be no fanfare. 4-6 months later, someone might say "Hey ... anyone seen Keruvalia?" but that's about it.

I have no idea who the hell you are. :p

Don't blame you about feeling that way about Atlantian Oceania. That's why you no longer see the name of Druida written on the AO map, just below the large red area that is/was Hockey Canada. Can we claim the small Druidan minority. I'm sure we can stick them on one of our little islands somewhere.

Not keen on the big exit, mind. But then it wouldn't be HC without one. Attention whore! :p But then it's stuff like that that probably means you get less respect then you should from some in the game.

And a message to all the NS Gereral-ers out there. There is life outside general on these forums. If someone who largely posts on NationStates feels like saying bye, then this is where they have to do it.

Your departure will be a great loss for the NS Sporting scene. You were a nice person to meet and it's good to know that I didn't only annoy you :p . Anyway, good luck in your future life (with your baby, that is :p ). I had fun RPing with you (when it could happen, naturally) and I see forward to continue internet relationships with you.

Take care

You'll be back! I had to give up NS during my final college year. Lost my beloved country. But here I am again. I certainly wasn't missed and if I left tomorrow I wouldn't be either. But so what! However good luck with all your free time! Who knows maybe you'll invent the electronic bananna peeler!

We can always use more Canucks.

Er, bye. I can't help but think its a little bit funny that they wrote this long sorrowful message to everyone on the board and everyones like "... who are you?" LoL, it's like that one email you find about halfway through Doom 3. If you've played it, you'll know which one I'm talking about.

Well, I don't know what to say. I do like you as a person but not if you're going to make comments like that about me. I don't think I'm god's gift to NS, quite the opposite in fact, just another roleplayer by my books. :)

Bye.

EDIT: P.S. I don't see why you're ranting about your sport performances - take it from someone who's yet to win any tournament in any sport, ever.

I feel a little sorry for Hockey Canada here. I think his role playing friends should rally around their colleague and bring him back into the fold and make him feel less neglected.

hey hey!!! let's not joke about the hockey, and certainly not that gameified funeral sport of baseball - or baselessball, as I call it. . .-hell, might as well replace hockey with some. . .underwater basket weaving sports, perhaps?

Yeah, as to the guyu who's leaving. . you're just indulging yourself with a long good bye. No one cares except for other nerds who role play. The length and breadth of the post is actually a comment on your sad, sad life. I mean, you felt the need to do all that?

Humbug. You just wanted to feel imiportant. Just leave, next time, after you come back.

But who am I to be sayin' all of this? Just some hackass, no doubt.

Well, seeing as I was checking the post-mortem (or total lack thereof) on my thread, "War is harmful to children and other living things (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=492681)" in Moderation, I thought I'd just pop back to this thread to see if anybody cared.

You'd care. That's touching.

I don't understand why IDF freaked out all over the place about my thread, I worked hard on that thread. And I don't get why Erastide did what she did, other than to appease IDF - Bob knows why, he's as cantankerous as Eutrusca with none of the bonhomie and a pompous, self-aggrandizing boor at that - but everybody's so fucking tetchy around here of late, I thought better than to bitch about it. I'd sooner be the author of my own nation's demise, if only through neglect.

Water off a duck's back, I decided. It's easier to just give up and know in my heart that I'm a good man, that I'm a thoughtful man, and maybe even I'd be remembered around this place as such, if only in the eyes of only one other.

Tag, CH - you're it.

*and now that I've kicked that can one last time, adieu mon brave.
