Bottle of the Gods

The "Battle of the Gods" thread caught my eye, and perhaps I'm in an odd mood today, but ... what do you prefer as a drink? When you kick back, totally relaxed, feet up, what's there on the table next to you?

I'm a beer & ale person, the specific kind depends on the time of year. Right now, with the temperature in the high 90s F (say between 32 and 38 for those of the Celsius persuasion), it's a Corona with a goodly wedge of lime. :)

(Oh, and did you know that when Celsius (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celsius) first published his temperature scale, he wanted 0 to be the boiling point of water and 100 the freezing point? Truth is still stranger than fiction!)

That is one of the funniest movies Ive ever seen. In it's own unique way.

I saw dead mans chest last night, which reminds me of something to put in the annoy thread.

Oh to rerail your thread :oops, beer is the nectar of the gods while coffeee is the magic elixer of life.

Franklin said, "Beer is proof that God exists and wants us to be happy." It's thoughts like that - and beer itself - that keep me from being a total atheist.

I somewhat concerned by the fact that I found that glass quite sexy...

Although, in my defence, it reminded me of the female hourglass figure, as the makers probably (or hopefully) intended.

It is up there in the Elixir category, and I'm lucky enough to live in a place where good water is readily available. You might even have said, "The beverage without which other beverages would not exist. :D

It is a rather alluring and feminine shape, isn't it? But really, do you honestly think the makers of that undoubtedly fine beverage would use ... dare I say it? ... sex to sell their product? In this enlightened age we live in?

Meh, that beverage is obviously marketed to be interesting to straight boys only, because I am not impressed with the bottle shape in the least.

Well, I'll have a whiskey, one port, one rye, a cider, two rums (one buttered and one cold), a scotch (preferably about seven years old), wine/port, a beer (doesn't matter), sherry, grog, ale, maybe a Monutain Dew (for kicks), a Howlin' Gale, a little bit of Goldwasser, white lightning or green toad, absenthe and sombuka.fifty thousand awesome points and a fluffle if you get the reference.

Hmmmmmm, this got me thinking...Im going to take some empty 5 gallon water jugs to the cabin this weekend and fill them with the great water from there to bring home to drink. It is spring water thats collected in a water tank and lightly treated. Even in mid summer it is perfectly cold.

The water in the valley is too full of chlorine as it comes from the tap, and even after it sits long enough to lose the chlorine it tastes bad.

I think mead suits Vikings better.

I'll go with Strongbow, dry English cider. On a really warm day I'll switch to Hoegaarden Witbier.

If I need to be classier a good white German wine does the trick. Riesling or Gewürtztraminer.

I like Hoegaarden Witbier, yes, on a hot day. I haven't seen Strongbow in my local liquor stores. Riesling ... maybe, Gewürtz for dessert, certainly. Actually, for dessert I like Belgian lambic, especially the cassis-flavored one. :D When the weather is cooler, Bass or Newcastle, now and then the Old Peculier.
