ESPN Sucks!!!

Let me just say it. I hate ESPN. The nation's only supposed national sports channel is really nothing more than the Eastern Seaboard Propoganda Network. If you team isn't within 50 miles of the Atlantic, you might as well not watch.

Let's start with Sportscenter. For one thing, the first 20 minutes of the show is what the Yankees and Red Sox did last night. During Football season, it is what the AFC East and NFC East teams did last season. Of course no one should be surprised when Bristol Connecticut is at the midpoint between NYC and Boston. Besides, they hire almost everyone from the NY or Boston area.

Baseball Tonight is garbage. I won't really bash Peter Gammons as he recovers from his aneurism, but I will say he can't do anything but talk about his Red Sox. Jon Kruk is a fatass and a moron. Harold Reynolds is a NY Skankee lover who has a hard-on for Steinbrenner. Jeff Brantley (mullet boy) is an idiot. He has consistently questioned many of Ozzie Guillen's moves when Ozzie has won a world series and has the 2nd highest winning percentage among all active managers. Chris Berman is in love with Boston. He is the most biased announcer I've heard. Listening to him during the ALDS was brutal. He is supposed to be neutral on ESPN broadcasts yet the bastard was clearly rooting for the BlowSawx when they were playing the White Sox during the ALDS last year.

I also can't stand how ESPN has become Barry Bonds' PR agency. All of their hosts seem to be in love with him. They were showing every AB live as they were hoping he'd get his sham of a record. It was even more disgusting when ESPN got in bed with Bonds with the "Bonds on Bonds" BS they aired. It's interesting how ESPN refuses to mention his steroid usage whenever they cover him. If they do mention it, then they are defending him and making excuses for Barroids.

"Around the Horn" is a sorry excuse for a show. They have the biggest bunch of idiots on that show. Host Tony Reali isn't bad, but he never gets to talk. (Perhaps that's why I like him.) J.A. Adande is the only panelist I can take. Let me break down some of the frequent ones on the show.

Woody Paige is an idiot. He is a chamelion. When he was in Denver, he wasn't so East Coast biased. Now he moved to NY and becomes a Giants and Yankees fan overnight. The other panelists continually make idiotic statements. The worst of all is Jay "Moron" Mariotti. He is a putz. He usually represents the Midwest on the show and does nothing but bash the teams in the city he works. (Chicago) My Sox just won the World Series and Jay still makes idiotic statements about them. Ozzie Guillen is right, Jay Mariotti is a "fucking fag." Moronotti has a smug arrogant look on his face all of the time. I would love to clock him and take that smug look off of his face.

Try reading the newspaper instead of sitting in front of the tube. I imagine the Chicago papers do a creditable job covering the White Sox.

I'm rather fond of Fox Sports myself. Their regional channels are great, and on FSN Detroit I can always catch just about any team in Michigan when they play. Of course, since I don't have TV at my house I have to go to the sports bar to watch them, but I'm willing to endure such hardship.

How about this as classy. When Ohio State played Texas last Autumn, they brought in Nick Lachey and Desmond Howard, parked them at the north end of the Stadium, dead center in the middle of Ohio Stadium, and they sang "Hail to the Victors." The fight song of the University of Michigan! We weren't even playing Michigan! They just did it to disrespect OSU. Damn, dirty bastards.

Actually they don't. The Tribune Company owns the Chicago Cubs so they have a bias against the Sox. (since they compete for merchandise, TV ratings, and of course fans) The Cubune (as Sox fans call the Trib) is a rag that is the house organ for the Flubs and goes out of its way to bash the Sox. The Sun Times employees Mariotti so they aren't much better.

About the only time I have found ESPN entertaining is around 2am, when just about anything that could remotely be considered a sport is on. Professional miniature golf was the most fun to watch. The commentary that went with it was so serious I was dying with laughter.

Then of course, there's the National Jumprope Championship (http://bash.org/?146497)

You know, they do show the Mets, Braves, Orioles, etc. Just because while someone was having a temper tantrum they decided to ignore the obvious doesn't mean everyone has to now. And by the way, ESPN shows the games that are projected to draw the largest audience. Not our fault the entire Eastern Seaboard turns on the tube ;) .

By the way, the picture on the ESPN MLB website frontpage is of a Chicago player, and I just watched a Chicago-Mets (although I could be wrong about Mets) game a few weeks ago if that long.

By the way, Jim Rome is Burning, Around the Horn, and Pardon the Interruption are great shows.

EDIT: And for all you ignorant fuckers, tonights game is Chicago vs. Detroit.

They show a ton more Yanks-BoSox games, they show more highlights for them as well. They won't show many teams UNLESS they're playing against one of those 2 teams and they only show the good plays by those 2 teams. If you also can't see a bias among the commentators, you must mute the tv when they come on. Ofcourse they show a few other teams or else they couldn't fill the time slot. You proof is that they showed a Chicago player? big fucking deal, you've got to be joking if you can't see any favoritism. I'm not making a criticism on Yanks and Red Sox fans but on ESPN. I've seen several broadcasts where they spent a long ass time on a few teams and completely ignored many others. That actually happens frequently.

Ignorant fuckers? They have to show Detroit because of their record, they'd get their ass chewed out if they didn't every now and then. Good god, you like Jim Rome, nuff said. If I expected to see stats about every team, I'd watch the ESPN news channel because it's all sports news. Sportscenter in no way is all inclusive.

So what you're REALLY upset about is they don't show what you want enough. That's what it sounds like. Guess what? They have to please the majority of viewers. Obviously they do, or they wouldn't still be there. No one gets to see all the things they wanted to. And I noticed you didn't have shit to say about the other two shows, so nice job glossing over that.

Fuck the commentators, who cares what they say anyway? Usually they are wrong often as not, and I and other friends/relatives have corrected them as we watched. And like I said, tonight is Detroit vs. Chicago. And you know what? You're RIGHT! They DO only show teams with good records. Maybe you should find a better team that gets more viewing time because it WINS!

And the next game is Yankees- Toronto, then Atlanta-Philly, then Yankees-Texas, then Detroit Cleveland. That sounds like a pretty good mix to me. Maybe you should watch the games instead of listening to the commentaries. And Jim Rome is rich, hate him if you want, but he got a TV slot for a reason. He probably ragged on your favorite player, so you hate him now. Waa.

My favorite teams are the Royals and the Devil Rays. Awful, right? I don't expect them to show those 2 teams. They usually only show them on sportscenter when they're playing the yanks or redsox, whatever, I don't care. No, it's not because they're not showing what I like, it's because they're not showing what a huge chunk of the nation likes.

Maybe I should find a team with a better record? Are you one of those fairweather/bandwagoners? I hate people like that. No, they don't only show teams with good records anyway. I said that specifically about the Tigers. They've been showing the Braves quite a bit lately and they're garbage.

I do watch the fucking games and 2 of the 4 you just mentioned involve the Yankees. Steven A Smith has a tv show and he's garbage too. No, he didn't rag on my favorite player, he rags on everyone just to do it and in an incredibly uninformed way. He talks just to talk, he's a horse's ass.

You're right, two do involve the Yankees. Another two involve Detroit, one Texas, one Cleveland, and one Philly. Since the Yankees, although I hate them, are arguably the best team in the history of baseball, they SHOULD get more time. They just always suck til halfway through the season. I don't see how they are showing bias in the games they show. Sorry, I think ya'll are building a straw man. ESPN shows the games that the most people want to see. You just don't happen to fall into that category.

Am I a bandwagoner? Actually, I don't even like watching baseball. I DID play for about 12 years. I don't even have a favorite team. I just watch to enjoy the mechanics of the game, and to appreciate players/teams that play even one game that will just blow my mind. My FAMILY, however, consists of many, many, baseball fanatics, and so I watch games etc. constantly. In my experience, the more informed you are, the more you enjoy watching ESPN. The people who hate it just don't have a clue as to whats going on. Now, that might not describe you, but I just listed 4 games that included teams from Texas to Toronto to New York. That is what I call a good spread.

I wouldn't have a problem with NESN as they are a local channel. Just like I expect Comcast Sports Net Chicago to be biased.

ESPN though shouldn't have any bias as they are supposed to be objective. They are far from it. Baseball Tonight is the we love Manny, Papi, Arod, Randy Johnson, Jeter, Bonds, and Giambi hour.

I have no problem with them showing the Yanks and Red Sox a lot, my problem is that they don't show other teams a bit more. I'd really like to see a poll or something on what people want to see. LA is a big city, I don't see much about the Dodgers(or the NL for that matter) and Chicago is big, they should be getting a little more notariety(White Sox, not Cubs). I find that a lot of people who watch ESPN are by no means more informed. I watch sportscenter because I find it entertaining at times and I agree with you about around the horn and pti. I watch ESPN for those 3 shows. Around the Horn, however, has people from all over, it's not so with many of their other shows. They're showing Toronto and Texas because they're playing against the Yankees, that's what I was getting at earlier. I'm glad that they've started showing more Detroit games even though I'm not interested in that team.

If ESPN goes by what their viewers want to watch, I wonder how many are watching the spelling bees, juggling contests, scrabble, etc that they show.

The team that gets shafted more by ESPN than even my White Sox is the Cards. They have consitently been the best team in the NL for a couple of years now and they never get any coverage. Detroit fans have a right to be pissed too. I may not like the Tigers, but they get no respect from the national media. My Sox got the same treatment last year. The idiots on BBTN said that since the White Sox couldn't beat the Yankees or Red Sox last year, we would get swept out of the playoffs. Guess what? The White Sox went 11-1 and won it all!!!

Hey, a lot of those fans are probably doing crossword puzzles while they watch!

And I don't know if I'd agree with you about the Cards, IDF. The best they ever played was right before Boston stomped 'em. They just don't have much of a history of following through. ESPN totally favors the teams that are likely to end up in the World Series, but I don't think that's a bad thing. Lots of people WANT to see those teams go through the whole season. And yes, those teams were playing NY, but you still get to see them play. They might even win :D. Why do you care who they play, as long as you see them play?

The only Detroit team that doesn't have to scratch and claw for the tiniest bit of respect are the Red Wings. How long did it take before the announcers decided that the Pistons may not be a fluke? Two years? They still under-rate them.

And of course, no one respects the Lions, but that's perfectly justified.

Not my problem. I've seen CWS near the beginning numerous times and towards the end at other times. Sportscenter does have more than one sport to cover you know?

PTI is cool. I like that show.
Also, ESPN is pretty good for me during the NFL season cause we get no news of it on our sports channels.

I know, but no matter what sport they cover, the NE teams will get the most coverage.

Wrong yet again but you can continue to believe your delusions.

Why don't you watch it a little more closely? ALso watch BBTN, PTI, Around the Horn, Rome is Burning, and 1st & 10. You will notice a pattern.

I have watched PTI and from my POV they cover a wide variety of subjects from all regions of the country. Just because they don't concentrate on your precisious Black Sox and Bears doesn't make that so. I have watched around the horn and the questions also stem from the topics of the day which comes from other regions as well, not just the NorthEast.. Never watched Rome is burning nor do I watch 1st and 10 so I will not comment on them.

So would mine if I had the option of choosing not to watch them. What we get on ESPN International is Dominoes, salsa dancing and "Outdoor games". WTF?

Yes I know Brazil is not a baseball stronghold, but nor are we particularly interestred in the pseudo sports they broadcast here. (We don't even get the Sunday night Baseball any more :( )

As much as I hate Chavez, at least they have baseball in Venezuela.

Personally I don't mind poker. I learnt to play from ESPN. But dominoes pissed me off.

Seconded. In addition the Poker has some interesting characters, but the Dominoes is just intolerable.

So what is it going to be?

Sportscenter, BBTN, Round the Horn, Rome's Burning etc. with bias and all or -

Dominoes  ?

I'll take the NE bias every time thank you.

I agree that a lot of the ESPN analysts blow ass, and the East Coast bias is noticable and annoying. However, I DO have to give ESPN props: I must've seen a thousand replays of Barrett clocking A.J. Pusszinski in his fat head, and Ozzie Guillen showing just how fucking dumb he is when he called Mariotti a fag.
