Any moments in a computer game you ever found really cool? Like in Tenchu fighting that weird bloke on top of that roof... Awesome.

My favorite moment has to be from Halo:CE for PC multiplayer. Using a Fuel Rod gun against an Warthog usually flips it into the air, and given you have five explosive rounds before the gun needs to cool, I used to juggle Warthogs that tried to run me over.

Pretty much the whole of Skies of Arcadia: Legends.

Although the Impostors were way too easy this time around (OK so I didn't exactly give them a fair fight unlike last time. Auras of Valour are dead handy once you know what they do.)

And the first 20 minutes of Metroid Prime. Once you started all the backtracking it got boring but the time from planetfall until the first few bosses was brilliant.

I've got some good moments from CE...I remember, on the map "Infinity, when me and one other guy with a banshee were escorting another guy with a banshee home to score with the flag. Suddenly, this other banshee comes out, right in between us. Sure, we outnumbered him, but he was really hurting our flag carrier and we needed the score. One of the most intense air battles I've ever fought in any game. I brought the other guy down, right before he fire the shot that would have killed our flag carrier.

The part in the original Deus Ex when you turn on the government with your brother Paul, and then going through your old base.

When Carville gets asploded in Red Alert 2.

Watching crazily stupid killcams in Call of Duty 2.

The entire storyline in either KOTOR 1 or 2, especially the endings.

Killing an entire town to buy their homes and stores in Fable.

Realizing Pat Summerall actually said my name as a created player in Madden 2003. Greatest personal moment ever.

Seven posts. Sweet.

Finishing Ultima IV.

Learning who I really was in KotOR.

The first I assassinated someone in Shogun: Total War.

Discovering The Hunter-Seeker Algorithm in Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri.

In Delta Force, leading targets with my sniper rifle, firing a single round with my scope pointing at the ground such that my shot arced over the edge of a hill and took out two guys standing in the back of a moving truck, entirely outside my field of view.

On purpose? :p

As for me, pretty much all of KotOR.

Most of Jedi Knight 2, particularly those bits involving cool Force powers.

The storyline of Deus Ex, particularly the endings.

Any number of castle defences where the odds have been awesomely against me in Medieval: TW.

The end of Republic Commando where (spoiler alert) Sev dies. First time I've ever been truly bummed about a video game happening. He was so cool too... :( Incidentally has anyone else figured out how all the clones (note CLONES) on that game sound different?

All the various plot-lines of EV Nova.

The list goes on and on and on and on and on and... :D

In No One Lives Forever 2, there was a chase scene where you're sitting on the shoulders of a big Scotsman named Magnus who is mounted on a tricycle, and you're chasing a mime on a unicycle. Best. Chase. Ever.

Not quite.

I was leading the targets for a second or so when suddenly my scope was filled with the side of a hill, so I fired anyway, knowing that there was going to be huge arc to my bullet's trajectory since these guys were almost 2 km away. The truck passed behind the hill, and when I went to chek the guys in the back were dead.

One shot killed two guys I couldn't even see. Man that was cool.

All the best shots are done by accident. Which leads to tears when you know you'll never pull off anything that cool ever again :(

I myself have pulled off some wicked awesome snipes on Halo 2, the most memorable being leading a 'Hog on the other side of Coagulation and sniping the driver clean out of the seat, and leaping from the base on Headlong, zooming in mid-air and headshotting some bastard before I hit the ground. Wicked cool.

Ahh... where to begin...

in an adventure game, trying to figure out how to get past a carnivours plant, I typed in "Piss on plant" and the reply was "it has fireproof skin."

so I started pissing on everything and the replies were "That would be arson!"

then there's MechWarrior II: Ghost Bear, ahhh exiting your mech bay with the Arrow system... targetting the enemy mech and destroying them before they even 1) powered up and 2) appeared on your screen.

and then, for UT, finding the real power lay in the sniper rifle. head shot!

I'm actually just doing KotOR 2 now. Parts of it I'm finding really linear and derivative (Dantooine) but parts of it are really cool (Onderon). Onderon's tone reminds me of Taris in KotOR, and I'm one of the few who really enjoyed Taris. It had wonderful moral ambiguity.

KotOR also outshone KotOR 2 in that you could come up with any backstory for your character you wanted, and they all worked completely within the game.

Really? I quite liked Dantooine - the way it followed on from the original plot-wise. Korriban was far lamer than on the original though, which was a shame. Nar Shaddaa is infinitely better than Manaan though. Manaan is ass.

Personally Taris takes too long to accomplish not enough in my book - while there is a lot to do certainly, it's too spread out, so the loading times really slow things down. Peragus is a somewhat better intro world for my money, and Telos is pretty sweet too.

My favorite moment from a video game occured in Zelda - A Link to the Past. It was in the second castle/dungeon and there was this one part that we (as in me and my siblings) couldn't get past. Then my brother made the suggestion to "light all the lamps." We were all very skeptical of this idea. But after a while we eventually gave up and tried his idea. Suddenly the ground started shaking and one of the walls in the room crumbled to reveal a door to the boss's lair. It was so awesome because it was really surprising and it was the first instance in which we really experienced the full impact of the creativity and innovation of Zelda.

Remembered another goodun.

Playing Unreal Tournament (the original) against one of my friends. One of the industrial/factory maps, with a long straight walkway on either side of a "leg" of the map.

We're running towards each other along the walkway. I'm using the minigun, so holding my fire for the moment. he's not firing either, then...
WHOOSH, he launches a Redeemer straight down the walkway towards me. We keep running towards each other.
I jump, clearing the missile, and enter minigun-range. I open up with secondary fire.

"I have you now!"

BANG! Headshot!

Or not. Sneaky bugger'd got a sniper rifle. Much laughter ensued from both camps.

Having finished LOOM for the first time ever. (Now I own it in two different languages and have played it more than a dozen times).

Finishing Doom! for the first time, too. Still get a "doomy" feeling when listening to a tape with Kiss/Motörhead on it which played non-stop during my games.

Driving off the humans in SimAnt was always fun, too: No more Mr. Lawnmowerman...

Helping to wave the Soviet flag above the Reichstag in Call of Duty :D

Yeah, that was one of the top moments there. The boat to Stalingrad was good too.
Kicking the ass of unwashed smelly trouser-wearing barbarians with well-disciplined legionaries or Spartan hoplites in shiny armour in Rome Total War was always fun. The ending of the first Halo and the ending of Oblivion were both teh awesome. Also when I downloaded a hilarity mod for Oblivion and created mass riots in the Imperial City, compounded by the spawning of titan ogres and rocks and horses falling from the sky. Classic.

I didn't mean the plot, I meant the final movies, they really pissed me off after the great ones in KotOR.

Oh right yeah, they weren't all that were they.

Although to be fair the light side ending was cool to watch - the whole Malachor V dying thing. Was that actually anything to do with the Mass Shadow Generator, or did they throw that in because it sounded cool? I've never figured that out. They really should've made more of it though - and tied it in more with the endings that Kreia says are going to happen.

I must admit though that both endings for the original were totally sweet as.

Another awesome moment was Half-Life, from about the second half onwards really, and especially the feeling of supreme well being that came with knowing I'd completed the bugger (even if the last boss was kinda easy).

Getting to shoot Valen Dreth in the face on Oblivion. Actually, that whole mission, but getting to nail that annoying bastard was the best bit. :fluffle:

Using Gary's Mod to tie Dr Breen to a post before using thrusters to spin her round it at around 200mph. Also seeing how much stuff I could tie to my airboat and suspend with balloons, allowing me to drag absurd amounts of stuff around. :D

Discovering the Hunter-Killer Algorithm on Alpha Centauri, and realising that, as Zahkharov, it removed my only weakness. Pwnage ensued.

this happened to me. a lesson about Cheat Codes.

Using a Game Genie... I put "Invulerability" on me for the Sega Genesis game "Might and Magic" well, at one time, I needed to rest to regain Magic Points... and got attacked by monsters.

the problem: I was asleep, so these monsters had free attacks untill my characters woke up... and the only way they can wake up is if they are damaged by the monster's attacks.

did I mention I put "Invulnerablity" on my characters... they snoozed and took no damage while a hoard of skeletons feebly batted away at them. :D

KotOR, quite early on, if you have Mission and Bastila in your party, and go to tatooine. hehe. they have an interesting conversation about "doing things for fun" "responciblity" and the force... then bastila uses te force to dump mission on her butt :D

there are lots of great moments in KotOR.

KotOR2 was... a disaster, once you got to the end-ish. there may be a patch or something to fix it, but the story just starts jumping around, .... there's a whole chunk that just isn't there... gah. *head shakey*

Alpha Centauri rocked, though i spent more time trying to stay not dead than actually winning it :S i think i won once. . . . by trancendance, actually. can't remember who as or how, though.

that's a kind of nifty movie when you complete that one, especially if you built a lot of secret projects along the way.

the interludes and stuff get glitchy when you install the expansion though.

humm... destroying western gun-slingers [some of whome had gattling guns and other weirdness] with a sword in Sameri Western... Finaly unifiying china in Dynasty warriors 4, empires...

oh! Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8. . . .. I started as a random no-body. wasn't even a vassle or anything. i ended up as emperor of all china. . . that's an achivement, and no mistake.

messing up history in Crusader Kings or Hearts of Iron 2, Dooms Day is great fun.

in the second one, i played as japan. first thing i did was join the allies.

hilarity ensued as the japanes and british ripped right the way throught the USSR and on to berlin [yes, the british attacked europe from the south and east. great fun]. 3 japanes armys marched right the way from korea to persia, conquering everything in their path that wasn't allied.

with out the japanese as a foe, the USA just floundered. it declared war on the USSR right before the Germans took the western half and the japanese the east, and then didn't declare war on germany untill the japanese and brits controlled all most all the way to poland.

where upon the took Norway [which the germans hand conqured] took all but one of it's territorys, then lost the whole thing again, THREE TIMES before finaly going in through northern russia instead.

the game ended by time expiration just when the germans had pushed the allies back to the east of *thinks* Kiev, i think. mabey moscow? one of those big ones anyway.

only the americans even Tried an amphibious invasion in that game, and it didn't really work :D

in another one i playd as the germans and took all of britain [except their med holdings, which i needed to defet them properly] within 2 weeks of them declaring war on me. that was funny.

yeah, messing with history is the best :D

UT99 had a renaissance of sorts at my school towards the end of the school year, to the point that some people (including me) were skipping certain classes in order to play some rounds of UT. (Yay for pre-finals ("Dead") week, where my Chemistry teacher was just demonstrating problems in class and didn't care if we showed up...)

Naturally, this was the most fun I had during the entire year.

In one game on Barricade (a castle map), I wound up entering the match a little later than everybody else. I'm usually one of the weaker UT players, so victory seemed improbable... improbable, that is, until I got my hands on a Flak Cannon.

So, it's me and my Flak Cannon versus two of my friends (one's very good and a Sniper Rifle fiend, and the other is about par with me and loves the Minigun) and some bots. Luckily for me, I didn't see too much of the sniper, and my Flak disposed of him on most of the occasions I do see him. The Minigun lover soon discovered the power of Flak, and bots... well, they're n00bs, right? Any bot is good for my kill score, and I saw a lot of bots...

I won the match.

------

In another match on a garage-like map (Stalwart-XL), I was usually getting killed on my way to picking up new weapons. I get tired of this quickly... and decided that it was... Hammer time! I run around with the Impact Hammer, sneaking up on unsuspecting bots and friends (including one memorable kill where I snuck up on the sniper [who was using an Impact Hammer instead of a Sniper Rifle and must not have heard me sneak up on him] and dispatched him with an Impact Hammer to the back)... "A_n00b wins the match!"

(Yes, I use "A_n00b" as my name in UT. It makes for funnier kills; come on, "A_n00b ripped ______ to shreds with the Flak Cannon"!)

------

Then, there was a Redeemer potshot on a bot match in Liandri... I have the shield belt, a Minigun, 2 Redeemer shots, 24 frags (6 needed to win), and feel like using a Redeemer to get the wins. I shoot the Redeemer on guided missile mode and detonate it in midair...

"Double Kill!"

"Multi Kill!"

"Ultra Kill!"

"M O N S T E R K I L L!"

"A_n00b wins the match!"

Fun times, that.
