I like the BBC, myself. They're relatively unbiased, and usually very thorough in thier reporting.

I do like the American CNN as well, but they do tend to get swept into "event" stories like the disappearance of Natalee Holloway and Jennifer Wilbanks, or the trial of Scott Peterson. While such stories are kind of interesting, they don't exactly deserve the hours upon hours upon hours of coverage that they tend to get from CNN.

I use BBC online pretty much exclusively. Though not entirely free of bias I find it to be more so than US news sources, as well as providing better coverage of the world. Plus they usually stick to stuff that is actually newsworthy, or at least more often than their US counterparts.

I love the BBC because it is required by law that the government have everyone pay for it when they buy a TV.

We need to the BBC because by having the government run the news it gives us complete unbiased news. A state-run and controlled operation allows for people to get true facts in all situations, including the urgent fact that we need to expand new government programs, and increase government regulations to protect us from GLOBAL DESTRUCTION FROM CATASTROPHIC WARMING OF THE EARTH!

I'm glad that we don't have private people providing serious news because if they did, they the emphasis would lead people to conclude that we need more privatization. (We already tried that with Maggie Thatcher and it was an utter failure!) Luckily, BBC allows people to claim to be educated, while advocating more progressive principles and more rights to be effected by Parliament.

Thank Our Common Ancestor with Bonobo for the BBC!

I fully intended to support the New York Times but I was clicking too fast and picked Faux News.

Soviestan, just because I embarassed you in another topic, doesn't mean you can go about trying to retaliate by calling me troll. Making false accusations of troll is worse than being a suspected troll.

I am a true mainstream Democrat (GO JON TESTER!). Most Democrats, except maybe 3 months before an election, support government operated television and radio. Where were you when we protested the mean-spirited Republican cuts to NPR and PBS?

With the corporate media controlling everything we see and hear, we need government, unbiased media to counter-act it.

The BBC, which is also government-run, provides unbiased news trusted by the British public. Plus, for many Brits it sustains their notions that they are superior to Americans since they have rejected God and many Americans believe in a fairy tale.

Since it is natural for humans to long for God, in fact God has written the moral law on the hearts of men, progressives need state-run media in order to counteract these natural feelings and put feelings of supremacy and status as a substitute.

Be serious, would you rather have God and His oppressive moral law or unlimited sex no matter when you want it, and a constitutional right to abortion if contraception fails?

You decide, but most Americans and Britons would rather have the sex.

This is why we don't have to pretend to be moral for the election, like you want to be, we can be honest. Most Americans know that you can't legislate morality, so why do we pretend to support legislating morality during election time?

A mixture... I read the newspapers Dagens Nyheter (http://www.dn.se) and Aftonbladet (http://www.aftonbladet.se). I generally get my tv-news from Swedish television, SVT (http://www.svt.se/nyheter). I also do use the BBC's website and sometimes watch BBC World. The BBC certainly seems to be the best and most impartial English-language news organisation that I'm aware of.

I also receive CNN International and SKY News in my house, but I don't really watch either very regularly. I can get FOX News as well, which I find absolutely hilarious. It's hard to believe it can be considered a news channel, it appears to me like satire.

I read the New York Times online for the most part. Occasionally I'll pick up a copy of the local paper (the Sacramento Bee), but half their stuff is taken from the New York Times and AP anyway. Recently I've started reading the Wall Street Journal, but it's invariably a day or two old by the time I get to it (I only get to read it when I'm at my boyfriend's parents' place - they have a subscription). I also read Le Monde online, and watch the French news online when I want to practice my French.

Hmm...I read the STL Post Dispatch...but generally, I go to Google News. If you read one article that seems biased, you can just read another about the same thing. Television news is more entertainment than information, for almost every channel.

I would so very much like to find a news source more concerned with health and education than unbelievably small yet controversial issues of the repulicans and democrats, like abortion or gay rights.
