Marvel's Civil War Story Arc.

Any of you been reading this? I'd figure as politicaly passionate as most of you are you would. If not, let me give you a rundown..

It's been a long time coming, but after a traumatic exprience live on reality television when The Young Warrior's incompetance allowed a villain to destroy a school with children inside, (Speedball is to be arrested as he was the leader and commanded them into the fray.) the goverment feels heroes should be heald accountible for thier actions, especialy when casulaties and collaterol damage is met. So SHIELD and the military are now enforcing the "super-human registration act" all vigilantes are to report thier secret iddenities, it doesn't have to be public, but the registration merely dictates superheroes have to work for the state bassicaly.

Leading the cause is Ironman. Who understands that thier childish antics have gone on far enough, people are dieing, and the world is tired of guys who can level cities playing cowboys and indians.. Also by Ironman's side is most notably Spiderman, Reed Richards, and Ben Grimm/The Thing.

Against it is Captain America. Who refused to apprehend people he called friend who have risked thier lives day in and day out for society. Also Cap was not particularly fond of the way SHIELD acted like he had no authority over them or anybody else and was to sit like a good little dog. By his side is mostly younger less exprienced heroes and the majority of mutants.

Sortof forced upon sides are The Thunderbolts, villains are given a second chance if they register and cleanup thier act, naturaly, The Thunderbolts see this as not only an oppurtunity for a clean slate, but to get back at a few of thier old enemies who decided to rebel against this turn of events.

Wolverine is against the act, not only does he have good reason to be paranoia cause of Weapon X program, but he's a wanted felon as it is for threatning to kill the president.

Despite how the liberal kiddies seem to think Cap is being liberal, he's not. Cap's being Regan style republican. Something we havn't seen in a long time.

Small Goverment:
How can we hope to acheive non-goverment intervention if they start barking orders to superheroes? Democracy cannot survive if the state owns guys like The Avengers..

Princaples:
Half of Cap's problem was the attitude he got. He tried reasoning with SHIELD, and didn't nesscarely say he wouldn't stand for it, just he didn't want a part of it, but that wasn't an option. So, he busted thier lips wide open. As any good conservative would do..

Social Services:
In the real world, if superheroes WORKED for the goverment, the tax rate would have to be increased to compensate, maybe not HAVE to be increased but they WOULD be increased. Don't know if this will apply to Marvel Universe, seeing as hearing complaints of a tax hike would be igsinificant to the storyline.. But it's just another reason pointing towards con-registrators are republicans.

Mindyou, it's not a crystal-clear issue and the whiney little dems who wrote it did it that way on purpose. On one hand registration seems like a really good idea, wether for noble or selfish gain it opens doors for oppurtunity, bennefits, and purpose.. but who would want to be a lapdog to an agency who barks down orders to you and lets you get spit on? (Some whiney woman's who's son died spat at Stark. I'dve taken my plasma gaunlets and fried her ass. There, now she doesn't have to mourn over her son, they're both rotting in hell..)

I figured we could discuss Civil War here, and how it's getting more interesting as the story progresses. And the slogan question was as climatic then as it is now.

Who's side are you on?

This comment alone is enough to make me afraid of this thread.

you realize it's...fiction, right? It ends in the way the authors wish it to end...

That's interesting, because Venom might register, Carnage ehh.. even if he did they'd lock him up and throw away the key lol..

Dude, I think that you're taking a comic a little too seriously.

Busheviks take everything that might be a jab at Dear Leader seriously. Just look at the brouhaha over Episode Three.

At first, I wasn't thrilled about the series, as I don't collect / read all the books. In fact, there are still plenty of things I'll miss out on -- you can only afford so much and I buy comics for the stories, not the collectibility.

Anyways, the short answer is that after reading the first few preludes I got interested ...

I'm with Cap all the way. And as much as I hate Namor, I totally expect him and Thor to show up in Cap's darkest hour. Usually I like and admire Tony Stark, but he is wrong this time. As is Reed, though Ben and Sue will hand him his own. The guy who is gonna be burned the most by all this is Peter. I noticed today that they've already run a second printing of Civil War 2, which *should* go down in comic history for one reason I won't write about. ;)

I'm Anti-Registration Act.
