Game Shows

I apologise if this has been done before, but I haven't see it, so I thought I'd run a poll.

Love them or Loath them, they're a part of TV culture.

I think that all of us, at some point in our lives, have liked a game show. Maybe when you were an early teen you liked something like Fun House (Pat Sharpe, get a hair cut), or maybe you've loved, and always will love, Jeopardy! (people from the UK may not be as familiar with this one).

My personal fave is Blockbuster, especially the P Please Bob line, made me laugh every time (I was 10 and easily amused). This is closely followed by Wheel Of Fortune, and Family Fued.

So please, poll away, and discuss the weird and wonderfulness of Game Shows.

I like Jeopardy. Game shows that are not Jeopardy, however, generally make me feel like removing my brain with a spoon. (In particular, "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" drives me up the wall. *shudder*)

Celebrity Jeopardy with SNL. Nothing beats it.

I say Jeopardy because I actually like it, and Takeshi's Castle because I just had to vote for the oddball option.

seconded... purely for entertainment value though - as an actual game show, it sucks.

Since I was a little girl, I've always wanted to be on the Price is Right. I know my prices. I always end up yelling at the tv saying "NO! Pick the Preparation H!! It's more below the suggested retail price!!!"
Then of course the doofs on tv pick the Doan's Pills.

Although my luck, if I had gotten on the show, I would probably have won something like a sofa or a pair of snow skis. Not the car or the boat. Sigh.

My favs didn't make it on:

Remote Control (5 seasons, MTV)
http://dc-lundberg.net/remotecontrol/

...classic show that gave Colin Quinn, Dennis Leary, and Adam Sandler a half hour to play skit roles. Games like "Beat the Bishop" and "Sing Along with Colin" were just classic. If you were in high school or college in the late 80s or early 90s, you probably saw this.

Idiot Savants (2 seasons, MTV)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0115211/
All too short lived, the show's premise was to show how smart and dumb some people could be at the same time.

Beat the Geeks (2 seasons, Comedy Central)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0299261/
Beat the geek in his category, take his medal, and play for prizes displayed by a hostess in a trashy outfit. What the hell could be better than that?!?

Takeshi's Castle is simply crazy and a lot of fun to watch;
Jeopardy! is a great show and I really enjoy watching it -

but my most favorite game show at the moment is Who wants to be a millionaire? [German edition].

Celebrity Jeopardy with SNL. Nothing beats it.

:D "Ja motha Trebek, Ja motha"
Tr:"Where is 'Cat' in the dictionary?" SeanCon: "In the R's." Tr: "No it is not in the R's." SeanCon: "That's not what ja motha said last night Trebek!" :D :D :D

I voted Family Feud, but only because every time I go over my friends house, it is playing on his TV. Other than that Jeopardy (the real kind).
