Not on this site, but on a white sox one. I have been suspended twice there. ONce for calling Chicago radio host Les Grobstein a "douchebag." He is a member of the site and a host on 670 WSCR. I did it after he said AJ Pierzynski deserved to be punched.

My current week long ban is for calling Jon Garland "Judy Garland." The admin is a huge Garland fan and didn't like my post with that comment and my suggestion that Brandon McCarthy should be put in the rotation.

I've been forumbanned before. Last time the server screwed up, no-one could post new messages, but could create new topics and polls, they would just have no OP to go with them. So then I started spamming with thread titles, then Harles showed up and we started flaming eachother. TG posted a message saying that the server did in fact crash, and that the spammers got a week forumsban, except me and Harles, we got two weeks.

I'll post, though clearly I'm not in this league :) I haven't been suspended, but the mods here seemed so trigger happy I half expected to be. I'm not used to a mod insulting me repeatedly, then threatening me. What should one do when a mod insults your arguments against a resolution? Oh and do threads outside of the NSUN forum get closed as easily? I'm tempted to never really reply there, just provide links to a safer place to actually discuss resolutions.

I have been DEAT'ed once, and warned like one other time.

Its a funny story..

I was arguing with Stephistan about a topic that escapes me now.
I forget what she had said that got my goat, but I went screwy and denounced her but good!

Well, she, as always gives it right back with a vengeance, and the topic turned ugly.
I flamed, and railed, and yelled, and she eventually tired of it, and asked me once or twice to stop flaiming her.
Well, I didnt realize she was "officially telling me to knock it off" from a moderator perspective, and she locked the thread.

Angry and confused, I posted a new title , asking "WTF?!" more or less...
As many of you know...the Mods hate that crap!
Unfortunately, particularly TMG Hack....

He, not Steph, did the deating...

Since then Ive talked to Steph several times and have found we share similar views on several issues.
Shes a good kid=).

Too bad she isnt around here much, these days.

I suggest that when we Old Ones tire of NSGeneral we all go out in flames by finally reclaiming the bandwith which is rightfully ours and has been stolen by the RP'ers. We could all simultaneously control-V the speech from the end of Bladerunner as we storm the beaches of II, knowing full well they will be our farewell.

Heck, the invasion of the RP forum was such a good idea it is a shame that it only happened once.

Anyhoo. One forumban to my name, for posting a link to pictures of naked protestors. That in itself wasn't the problem, the fact that there were graphic links to pr0n on the page was. Funny how sometimes you just filter theses things out.

Oh yes. I got a 3-day ban on another forum for having an argument against this chap who called himself Triton (he got perma-banned).

It started off very small, about whether what thet US was doing in Iraq was right or wrong, and ended up as basically a tirade of insults.

He had absolutely no allies in this debate, and eventually we were all just taking the piss out of him for his weak responses, which was picking on him a bit, I suppose.

About ten people got a 3-day ban, because I suppose some of the stuff we said was a bit out of order I guess...

He also claimed the moral high-ground because he was celibate for some reason.

ive never been warned or banned. i do sometimes post what i consider to be merciless flame but i guess it comes off as too civilized so the recipient either doesnt understand that is a grave insult or they dont believe that i intended to piss them off. or does but just doesnt care..

i came back from a week and a half vacation this week and i considered making one of those "i apologize to all those that i offended" threads that some people make when they get back from a ban. i thought it would be funny to pretend that i had gone off so badly that i was banned on the spot. the only thing that stopped me was the realization that no one would get the joke.

http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Hogsweat_deletion_controversy

The Mods or whoever's in charge there haven't fixed up the site, so it still spews a lot of errors, but it can explain the controversy itself better than I can.

BTW: The griefing rules were later changed, hence the "Influence" ratings.

I find it amazing that people get banned in the first place, not because they don't deserve it, but because they insist on engaging in the behaviors that will get them banned. It's like a sign that says "don't piss on the electric fence!" Sensible people would respect that as being a reasonable request, considering the fence belongs to someone else and there are plenty of other places to relive one's self. Other people become outraged and start spouting off things like "How dare you tell me what to do! I can piss wherever I want!" and then get their little winkies shocked off.

I've only been banned at wotc forum, may they rot in hell. You know, if I were banned here ohwell, it's not like I gave this place a cent of my money. (I havn't bought the book Jennifer Goverment)

But I was an avid customer of wotc products. So for them ban me is bassicaly saying "we like your money, but not you, continue to buy our products, but don't expect to be able to socialize with other fans.."

Fuck you wizards. You're lucky I don't have a car to drive down and put bullet rounds through your heads. (And yes, I'm an anarchist, I've finnaly come to grips with that now..)

Mindyou, it really pissed me off because not only did I post there for four years and it just happen all of a sudden, not only was it like being betrayed by your family, but it was for STUPID shit. Apparently they keep a commulative tab on your record. And the reasons were
"promoting illegal activity"
Mindyou, in wotc world, promoting violance and death is worse then smoking cocaine and have sex with children and animals. Which i've seen other members post about.
"foul language"
I have a dirty mouth, but I try to keep a tab on it when I'm there out of respect, so excuse me if it slips.
"Going over PG-13 rating with fanfic"
Somehow I doubt a Chuck Norris facts type thing is over PG-13..

They're just cunts is what they are. And I hope they all get cancer and die. I'm like that, I don't get mad easily, but when I do I hate you for the rest of my life. I've even gotten the Necronomicon, but am afraid to use it. If I did use it, it'd be on them.

A ban is something like a rape. No-one has that right to do that to you. ESPECIALY when you put bread on thier table. They bit the hand that feeds them, so the moment I get the oppurtunity i'm putting them down.

But no, here I havn't done anything to deserve a suspension. And even if I did. I wouldn't care..

No, it's just against the forum rules, and everyone who feels the need to post maimed bodies, be they animal or human, post-birth or pre-born, gets the same treatment.

Obscene and Explicit Content: Sexually graphic images and posts, and violent images such as bloody corpses. Very strictly forbidden. Obscene imagery and content in the forums should be reported to the Moderation Forum. Please provide a link to the topic, but do not quote it while explaining its illegality. Then we have to find and delete your posts too.

The standard for both forums and game is the US movie rating "PG-13". Mild swearing may be tolerated, mild sexuality may be hinted, but explicit or excessive versions of either or both may result in proportional mod response. http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=8784641&postcount=3

I think someone should do something dumb/offensive to get themselves banned in this thread to amuse everyone else. Volunteers?

I don't even understand the mindset of banning people. Less they did something deliberately awful like post pictures of child prongraphy, or spammed up the forum with topics like "*insert name here* is a faggot!" or some shit like that.

So you can show pics of people firing weapons....but not show the devestation caused...
Right. Because punishing everyone the same way for breaking the same rule is not evenhanded.
Knock it off, you two.

...

Hehe.

I came to the conclusion a long time ago that, if you reduce the entire incident down to virtually nothing - ie simply the link with the pictures, then Kat was right in what she did. I hadn't read the rules, and I broke them.
I still think that the context was completely ignored, and I think it shouldn't have been. Alas, that decision isn't mine, and the mods have never been the kind to argue, and since I was allowed to come back with another profile, no real harm was done.
So we can all drop it.

We could save time and effort and just ban you without cause. Or perhaps for encouaging stupidity - that would work.

Interested?

Not been banned yet, generally you're all a pretty good lot so I never have cause to say things that SHOULD get me banned. I'm sure it'll happen at some point through some insignificant throw-away remark. ;)

Right. Because punishing everyone the same way for breaking the same rule is not evenhanded.

I love throwaway comments that do not address the issue. Maybe you should slow down a bit...

You state that mild swearing is allowed.

**** is not a mild swear word.

We know this rule and yet it is not enforced. While people are banned for breaking rules they did not know about.

I am not argueing the toss of right or wrong because frankly I really don't care. What I do care about is evenhandedness.

So if you are not going to enforce a rule why have it in the statute book...

I am sure the more politically astute know the answer to that.

Let me get this straight:

I posted a link to a site that contained some rather gory pictures of those at the receiving end of all the glory.

Turns out Katganistan didn't like it. I just put it down to it being easier to pretend it doesn't happen without the pictures.

Neu Leonstein says he posted a gory pic, and got deleted because "Katganistan didn't like it."

I responded with:
No, it's just against the forum rules, and everyone who feels the need to post maimed bodies, be they animal or human, post-birth or pre-born, gets the same treatment.

Then Neu Leonstein responds that while he doesn't agree (which I can understand), he understands why it happened, and we can all drop it.

So you bring in something completely unrelated because...? and you aim it at me and not the other mods posting in this thread because...?

What is it you're after here?

Take a look through the forums. Is anyone banned or even warned immediately for swearing? Or is it after they've done it consistently?

Has anyone NOT been deleted for posting gory pictures?

I thought I made myself quite clear in my reply to you.

Evidently not.

And I thought my two questions perfectly clear.

Has anyone NOT been deleted for posting gory pictures?
Has anyone been warned or banned the first time they used swear words?

I find it interesting that you choose not to answer. Because of course that would show that people are, in fact, treated the same way when applying the rules.

Instead, you'd like to imply that the exact opposite is the case.

Oh well.

The 2nd was about 8-10 weeks ago when me and Posi came to e-blows(Fisticuffs you sickos) in Topic titles when the Forums were Bjorked and posts wern't showing up, that was 2 weeks. Was that a week day?

I remember logging on here and seeing a mod make a stick thread with an annoyed mood and a warning..

Heh?

I've had a nation go bye-bye..
It was a Thursday night around 7:30 if i remember correctly, which would be a Wednesday morning around 2:30 for you...

Otherwise not even warned yet, although I mightve deserved a warning once or twice.

ive never been warned or banned. i do sometimes post what i consider to be merciless flame but i guess it comes off as too civilized so the recipient either doesnt understand that is a grave insult or they dont believe that i intended to piss them off. or does but just doesnt care..
Ha, same here. Just last week I had to explain that I wasn't actually schmoozing up to a troll but being sarcastic - when I actually pre-edited the posts several times because I thought they were too vicious. Of course, reading them again the next day, they hardly seem sarcastic even to me. I guess I'm too unused to seriously attack someone (as opposed to in jest) so if I actually do it it feels like this huge thing and I feel all evil and flamey.

I really should work on that. :p

So heres my dillema.

Im reading this thread, after posting of my deletion, ages ago, by a mod that became a friend, and noticing the frequent current Moderators coming and going...

and then I read this:

They're just cunts is what they are. And I hope they all get cancer and die. I'm like that, I don't get mad easily, but when I do I hate you for the rest of my life. I've even gotten the Necronomicon, but am afraid to use it. If I did use it, it'd be on them.

Aside from saying the obvious "wah, wah, Im bitter at people Ive never met",
let again quote the best part:

I've even gotten the Necronomicon, but am afraid to use it. If I did use it, it'd be on them.

How am I not supposed to jump all over that, and respond with anything other than scorn and ridicule?

Must...resist..urge ...to mock wanker.......!!

I understand the why, given that the Necronomicon is a work of fiction, and he doesn't even know it. However, do try to behave.

To the best of my knowledge, I have not been banned or suspended or otherwise officially bitch-slapped by the mods.

On a few occasions, a mod has gently suggested that I might want to remove my head from my arse before posting, and I've been asked to quit feeding the trolls (but they're so damn CUTE!), but I think that's about it.
