I've been sent a computer...

...for free...

Computer Associates, for some reason, decided to send me an AMD budget base unit and a 3 in 1 desk manager (keyboard, mouse and speakers). No monitor, though. :( (Why am I complaining, I have a free computer! :p).

I never made any sort of order with CA, and, as far as I'm aware never gave them my address.

Anyone else ever got a random freebie like this? As cool as this?

Send them one e-mail to whatever customer support address they give on their website, explaining the situation.

Then enjoy, because the rest is their problem. Free PC for a couple of months, woot.

See this is where you being British would definatly own.

Under British law, that computer would definatly be yours leagally, and there's nothing they could do to take it back :D

We ordered a grill, but then they told us they couldn't get it, so they're giving us a more expensive one for the same price of the original grill.

Well, I am British. So it's mine. Not that I had any plans to give it back anyway.

If you're in the United States, congratulations! You have just received a free computer. You have no responsibility to return unsolicited items.

Now, if a new truck would just show up in my mailbox...

LOL. You just made me think of those Dell Intern commercials that were on TV a couple years back.

In an ideal world...

"Sir, we accidentally sent him a computer."

"Really? Well, send him a free computer to compensate him."

"Yes, sir."

it might be a scam. If they demand that you pay for the computer and if they won't accept the return of what is now a used computer, call the state attorney general (or some other law enforcement agency if you're not in the United States)
