Help Me Finish a Story...

The New Diabolicals
15-07-2006, 14:00
After some consideration my friends and I decided that we would remake our film 'The Bunker', which some of you have seen already, but this time we would make it, and everything really realistic and change some things in the storyline.

Now 'The Bunker' is about a group of army soldiers who take cover in an old derelict war hideout to survive a heavy bombardment from enemy forces. However, when the bunker receives a direct hit its foundations are destroyed and it sinks underground, trapping the inhabitants inside...

Now this is where you lot come in. I was thinking of changing the ending of the movie to make it more like a dark, gothic, psychological movie, like my favourite film Fight Club. I decided to ask the fellow brainiacs from NationStates.

In the end of the Bunker the soldiers discover a terrible truth of their hideout and why it was locked up and not displayed on the map. There is something inside it - a deadly secret, but what?

Any suggestions would be fantastic and, if they're good enough, I'll add you to the Thanks List of the credits. So post your ideas!

Well, yeah, but the bunker has a secret inside it and I can't think what it could be. I'd like to do a morbid ending for once like one where they all blow themselves up for a greater good - to the sound of 'Disintegration' by The Cure

Maybe some kind of weapon that is timed to explode at a certain time bringing about the end to civilisation as we know it. The soldiers take it upon themselves to stop it as people who built it didn't know how to stop it....

That's kinda along the same line of what I was thinking, that or some sort of strange virus.

My Suggestion:

The unit finds their own dead bodies. Multiple copies of their own dead bodies, scattered about the lab with innumerable lacerations and mutations.

They find out that each of them are identical copies of an original platoon that died in the line of duty not too long ago. Each of them have been replicated wholesale, several times over, had their memories reprogrammed and been shipped out and sold as weapons by a global arms manufacturer that has decided to cross the last boundary and market human lives. None of the group has any past beyond their creation, and their visions of family and friends back home are sheer illusion.

The eventual ending could go off in all sorts of directions from there. The group could set out to destroy their own copies, they could lead an uprising against their creators, they could simply return "home" to live out their lives as their original selves; quite a range of choices open up there.

The bunker is just the top of a secret government program. Inside is a laboratory for human mutants which were originally intended for the military but they couldn't be controlled so they sealed the facility. The soldiers fight have their way past the breeding mutants to get to the only other way outside, blocked by the insane new leader of the mutants.

That I like. The mutants could turn other people into mutants or give them a terrible virus like on 28 Days Later. I was thinking in the end the soldiers could kill themselves to stop the mutants from escaping the bunker and causing the disease to spread across the world.

Well then, that would certainly give the movie a new twist. We seem to have moved quite a bit away from horror movies.

Maybe and this is a little crazy, they find , while spending the amount of time trapped in the bunker, an alien spaceship or something of future tech, and they find documents and things, telling them that the governments of the world, have been holding out on the populace, and the human race has relations with species from other planets, and are recieving technology from them, then somehow the group escapes the bunker, and tries to tell the populace of Earth, but the government tries to stop them and its a thriller/action story. Of them trying to tell every one, and the government sending officials and soilders and stuff to stop them.:)

Ohhhhhhhh or this, they spend a while in the bunker and somehow discover...
The bodies of every single soilder killed in the war, and there bieng experimented on (the bodies), and the group starts messing around with the controls, then all of a sudden the bodies come to life and there ZOMBIES!!!, the group has to hold out on there own fighting the zombies:p , eventually the main character survives, and he escapes with all the memories!!!!!!!!!:)

Haven't you seen any zombie movies? They get killed all the time. Ususally due to some mistake or their own weakness, but in your case I'm gonna guess that you'll die once the other ones are gone and you have no one else to be sarcastic towards.

Some sort of mutant fungus has started growing within the bowels of the bunker. The spores of this fungus, when released into the air and inhaled will cause insanity, driving people to kill themselves and eachother. Also the spores will infest their bodies, eventually causing fungus to sprout from them and feed off them. People aren't necessarily dead at this point.

Mm... contagious fungus crazies...

The soldiers realize that to get out of the bunker which is underground they must send something heavy down a hole, to lever the bunker up. They send everything in the bunker down on a rope, but it is still not heavy enough. They decide that the only thing to do is send one of them down there. They argue for a long time shattering their close-knit relationship of man-to-man. They then draw lots, and they most send the man who draws the short stick down the hole. They kill the man and send him down the hole, raising them up. But they are still not aboveground. They continue killing off men, but never get far enough up. In the end, the last man alive stares down the hole where his friends lie dead, and ponders his last days. The scene goes dark and comes back two weeks later when another air strike blows open the top of the bunker setting anyone who was inside free. But the only thing there is the rotting body of the last man...

Warning: story loosely based on Twilight Zone episode.

My own story depressed me. :(

They find a laptop with documents showing that the entire war is a sham constructed by an evil power to weaken both sidesw so they can invade. The bunker sunk because it thought it was about to be discovered. There is only enough power to A. send out a message with all the proof in it and save teh world, or B. Raise the bunker and free themselves, in this case the computer will destroy itself and thus any proof of the conspiracy. They choose the save the world option, but the antenna breaks off expending the power required to raise them to the surface. We then see them declared as missing in the files of the new *Insert bad guys here* empire.:)

I like this one, in the end they come to the conclusion that now war is more important than life, which is essentaly worthless...so they go to sleep...forever *spookie wwhhhooooo*

The soundtrack for the last scene is slow and accapello...perhaps MM's speed of pain, maybie with just a little laughter on the edge of hearing...I'll record it for you if you want...or anyrhing else...I wanna be in it!
Or a version of REMs Fretless perhaps

How about you just end the movie at the part where they discover the "secret". You'd never know what the secret is, and the movie could just focus on the building up to that point. God, I'd hate that sort of ending, but it's not like it hasn't been done before...
