I've thought of WWIII for a long time. Who do you think will start it? Where will the lines be drawn? What'll happen? Who/What will come out of it?

It's sad that so many people are excited by the thought of war. :(

According to The Chaser and some people interviewed by A Current Affair (two TV programs here in Australia) World War III is between two neighbouring families in suburban Australia over "a thousand tiny jet engines". (ie. parrots)

It's sad that so many people are excited by the thought of war.

That's because they see it like an exciting new reality TV series, and not people being brutally killed. I'm sure if they actually had to get involved in it they'd sing a different tune.

Who/What will come out of it?

The cockroaches will form their own kingdom, and create an empire. There will be sightings of things that resemble humans but look mutated. Cockroach Scientists will link these poor unfortunate beings to desmonstrating the effects nuclear war has on humans....

Who said he was excited? I dislike war intensly, but I still find it interesting. I'm rather curious about the next war myself, if simply to know what my chances and humanities are for survival.

Depends on who the US and Russia side against. Since they still have the lions share of nukes, it doesn't matter who else is in the war. I'm not sure of China's count, but they've got problems simply keeping the lights on and people out of bed.

It's a sad scenario, no matter how you look at it.

No, I don't think you do. WTF do the last two paragraphs of o's and x's mean? How did you know, though?

By the way, WWIII will be caused by Cthulhu.

Who will start it? Me.
Where will the lines be drawn? Lines are for pansies.
What'll happen? The Ultimate Global Foodfight.
What will come out of it? Sales of laundry detergent reach record highs.

I doubt there will be a World War Three, there WILL be a war in the middle east in the near future, but I doubt Africa or Europe will really get into it.

Umm ... it's already started, folks. Maybe you haven't been paying attention to the news.

Israel's bombing Beruit, Korea's trying to bomb Japan, and so on ...

Oh, sure, it will take a major Pearl Harboresque event for Americans to realise it, but WWIII is well underway.

I have my doubts. We'd actually have to have something unifying the conflicts before we could call it WWIII.

No, I figure if we get another true World War, it's the end. Nothing left but the cockroaches.

If you want to get technical, the first "world war" was actually during the age of Imperialism. Take a look at all of the fighting that was done just for the Carribean during that time, the sudden violent expansion of European power into every continent except Antartica...

Sorry, weird tangent there. But to those who think we've already entered world war III? you'll probably be suprised, but I actually agree. I just consider that to have started with the Cold War, instead of some Middle Eastern conflict.

Indeed. The beginning of the dark ages isn't correlated to the success of the US at all.

They are not the be-all and end-all of the world, shocking as this may sound to some.

Well, if you think about all the nukes it would take to take down a powerful nation like the US, it's pretty plausable that a new dark age could emerge.

assuming the USA is defeated with nuclear weaponry
assuming the USA is attacked at all

and a new dark age would emerge, IN the USA
unless the USA nukes everyone

Ok but assuming that WWIII will be a nuclear war and that the US will defend itself with nuclear weapons, then the whole world would be screwed.

But that's more Armageddon than dark age.

I've thought of WWIII for a long time. Who do you think will start it? Where will the lines be drawn? What'll happen? Who/What will come out of it?Something along the lines of total economic chaos would be required first before this globalized world could afford to go to war. It would cost too much to attack the people that buy the stuff you produce and produce the stuff you buy.

If the US falls, how much hope would Japan and South Korea have against North Korea and a suddenly less concerned China who decides to let go of the leash?

If the US falls, how much hope would the UN have in maintaining it's budget, and with that, resolving future global emergencies?

If the US falls, Europe becomes isolationists and 'also-ran’s,' especially when compared to China and Russian influences in buying all the oil and deciding which countries dictate global economy.

The only continents not adversely affected by the fall of the US would be South America and Antarctica. If ‘adversely’ is meant to imply human liberties and human rights and democracies.

-Edit- actually, it's entirely possible he said both. Quoteworld.org gave me five different versions of that quote, all slightly different.

Perhaps we should define what we mean by the description of "dark age."

The term 'Dark Age' was originally used by historians to describe the period following the collapse of the Roman Empire. It was called 'dark' because we knew little to nothing of the events of this time because the civilisations left in Europe did not know how to write, so nothing was documented. So 'dark' represents a time historians were not enlightened with knowledge of the period. This is my definition of a dark age.

If the US falls, history will still be recorded and documented by the people of the time.

If the US falls, how much hope would Japan and South Korea have against North Korea and a suddenly less concerned China who decides to let go of the leash? Considering that China has plenty to fear from its neighbor to the south, it's unlikely that they'll give whatever leash they still hold.

If the US falls, how much hope would the UN have in maintaining it's budget, and with that, resolving future global emergencies? Why don't you ask them? They've been doing quite well without funding from the US for quite a while before the US began paying dues again.
