There was a classic cartoon where a "baby faced Finster" pretended to be a child to get to a bag of money that Bugs had found.
Literally, this is the same plot. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0046739/

The file does not work for me.
Hey look, they made a crappy movie that is in no way, shape, or form funny or worthwhile, a movie that will be forgotten like so many others over the years! WHAT! A! SHOCK!

Worse, they literally steal scenes. Honestly all the Waynes brothers just need to be rounded up and killed, in some extrordinarily gruesome fashion. I know I know. What about due process, respect for human rights and dignity. Look sometimes, quick and dirty is the way things have to be done. They have to be stopped.
I guess the Wayans Brothers figure that if something worked out for the Warner Brothers it should work for them too.

Yes yes yes.... but it's the blatent plageristic overtones I despise.
If they called it a Bugs Bunny movie or something, I'd be more okay with it.
But no. Instead of Hollyweird making yet another crappy film adaptation or remake this is the Wayans brothers taking a 50 year old cartoon and trying to pass it off as something (marginally) original.
And "From the guys who brought you White Chicks"?!? As if that was high cinema!
I think this sums up my feelings pretty well about their movies:

Just for the record, I agree with Peter Griffin's Grandfather! Bugs Bunny should have been named "Ephraim the Retarded Rabbit".

You are obviously not Black.
Neither am I, but the point is that this movie, like their previous film White Chicks will do sufficiently well to justify trotting out a new one every other season or so. It's targeted to a fairly specific audience, and that's nothing new. Strides have been made to "integrate" cinema, and they've worked very well, like the Oscar for last year's Crash. However, as long as there has been an emancipated Black America, they've expressed their culture and those who sell and create for a living will sell and create for that culture.
"Race music" gave birth to Rock 'n Roll. Minstrel shows gave birth to modern Vaudeville, and way before that, especially in New Orleans, Black culture spawned the Blues and Jazz. Each time, what was once a "sub"-culture was "discovered" by whites and engineered to be just dangerous enough for young hipsters, but not so dangerous as to actually be Black in nature (proof of this is Dizzy Gilespie's band chanting "I'll never go back to Georgia" during the opening to "Manteca" as a result of shoddy racist treatment there...entertain us, White America seemed to say, but don't try to live among us).
Sorry for the meandering, but the point is, the Wayans phenomenon is a continuation of the Blaxploitation films of the 70s and exists coaxially with the likes of Spike Lee and Robert Townsend. If you don't think mainstream (read White) movies can't be this bad or this derivative, look at the previews for just about every romatic comedy out there (I just read a review for You, Me & Dupree and it fits the bottom end of the mold), or witness the Redneck revolution in entertainment.
I will not see a movie I instantly recognized as a ripoff of a classic Bugs Bunny cartoon. But many young, Black people haven't seen or heard of "Baby-Face Finster". This movie will probably rake in a respectable $40 million or so. Young people of all colors looking for the next cool catchphrase will go see it and quote it for a month or two.
It is the Way of Things.

On the opposite side of this issue is a film that I was assured up and down would be a hilarious take on the movies when they try to adapt a classic novel. Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story plays like one long industry in-joke, which is why reviewers were falling all over themselves to praise it. In reality, it's really, REALLY boring, and has a very select audience. It felt like I was watching a British version of one of the more unfunny episodes (and there are so many) of Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm. A bunch of shallow people discussing things that are riotous to them but have absolutely no resonance for nearly anyone else.
Another example: I loved the Christopher Guest film Waiting for Guffman, but I had the advantage of experience in writing musicals, and being involved with community theater. Someone who really thought White Chicks was hysterical is probably not going to count Guffman among their top twenty as I do.
Perspective.

At least then it would be an homage piece.
