There's some kind of program called Spector on my PC. Apparently it's some kind of spying program that logs everything you do. Anyway there's no real point in having it since my dad probably installed it on my PC over a year and a half ago and he lives in Anaheim and I live half an hour away, so I highly doubt there's any way he can dare spy on me from where he is.

Anyway, I can't get rid of this program. Anyone know?

sounds like maybe you should remove it from the registry.

Careful tho, you may delete something important, so know for sure what it is youre deleting.

Are you sure its not spyware, malware/adware?

Well Spybot Search and Destroy doesn't ever pick it up, so I don't assume it's spyware or anything like that.

Now if only there was a way to edit Spector's mail reports so as to include a HDD formatting virus.... :p

If someone installed something like that on my PC I'd feel thoroughly justified in filling their computer with kiddie-porn and reporting them as a paedophile.

HijackThis (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html) might give you something to work with, but I don't know how this works; it might be dug right into Windows' TCP/IP thingamujig. Nuke-and-reinstall's a good bet, but obviously last-ditch.

As a temporary measure you could block all of the outgoing ports this software uses on your router's firewall, if it doesn't pick them at random.

Edit: The "normal" version of Spector takes screen-shots regularly, so is probably more easily removable. If you can find out where it lives you can just delete them, too, probably (set a scheduled task to delete them all every ten minutes, say). The "Pro" versions probably don't work like this.

What kind of disgusting freak would use - Let alone write - software like this?

Probably someone that doesn't know a lot about computers but doesn't trust their kids alone time. Freaks like that.

Legal "spyware" it is - your Dad is spying on you. :p

Reinstall Windows, God knows what else he's installed to spy on you.

Just think of the fun you can have by convincing him you have some really strange interests.

Think of all the embarrassing things he must know about you!

You wouldn’t also happen to have a webcam would you because I wouldn’t trust it anymore if I were you
