Are you the only one from South Carolina? Are you really?
Mwahahahaha!
Well, it's probably better than Texas*... which isn't saying too much.
* - Remember, Austin is not a part of Texas. It just happens to be in the same geographical region and still has the Texas capitol building for some unfathomable reason.

I went to Newberry College, so I lived in SC for a few years. That being said... the no alcohol sales on Sunday in most of the state, and the liquor stores closing at 7...damn Blue laws! The influence of Christianity in the day to day runnings of the state make me equate it to the Taliban. A little theocracy inside the U.S.

North Myrtle Beach rules.

Actually, I live in South Carolina too...Columbia.
Well, it's nice geography-wise. Not too many natural disasters in my part of the state. The people aren't as stupid as everyone makes them out to be, although I have known quite a few Confederates, and if they are, I simply attempt to enlighten them :D
I have a lot of problems with the state though, especially the education system, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a perfect society.

Pretty light compared to most states in the US (except Delaware and Alaska, for instance).

Well, the state sales tax is 5%, but my county has it at 6%.

I really like South Carolina's flag. When I was in Iraq we had a South Carolinian engineer company attached to us (122nd Engineers), and they were really cool. All of their vehicles had stickers of their flag on it, and they flew their flag outside of all of their buildings. They even had a version of their flag that was red instead of blue. The engineer's corps' color is red, so it was rather appropriate.

Well, unless you move to Myrtle Beach (the metropolitan residence is about 340,000, but there are 14 million visitors per year) or Charleston, it isn't all that exciting. Where I live, the only natural disaster we ever have to worry about is tornadoes, and it only snows about once a year, sometimes less.
I could give you some more in-depth information if you want =P

South Carolina is beautiful! A bit hot, but the people are friendly! It just takes a bit of time to get used to some of the accents! You don't see as much of the stars and stripes as you do the red one that looks like a union jack...

Yeah. Except for the beaches, there isn't much to see here, but the weather is really nice and the people aren't always as stupid as they are made out to be =(

I know virtually nothing about many states, because in NC you learn only about NC (So much for American History, huh?). All I know about SC is some of its history and that it is a largely Christian state, and that is it. I went to Myrtle Beach though... when I was two... :(
The good thing about NC though is the fishin'... and the woods... but the mosquitoes are terrible... :headbang: *itchy itchy itchy*
Is it true that Marilyn Manson can't perform there though, due to doing inappropriate things with an American flag? I heard that somewhere... also he can't play in Canada for that reason...
Er... I hate to admit it, but I did kinda laugh at your highest mountain when I saw a picture of it. Sorry.

Absolutely! I usually go every year.
However... the only thing about SC I hate is... They really, really live off of tourist dollars, but it's perhaps the only place in the country I've ever experienced such "anti-" crap. Specifically, anti-"yankee" or new yorker. :(

There are funnier ones. The tallest "mountain" in Michigan is literally a largish hill.

A pride thing, I'm guessing. On a list of "highest points" it wouldn't look very good to have "Arvon Hill" instead of "Mount Arvon" on a list. Even if it would be much more accurate.

South Carolina seems like an okay place. I can't think of anything bad about it, and it looks pretty nice. My knowledge of it is fairly limited, as I haven't seen it for myself since I was 9 and even then it was just to drive through on the way up from Georgia to New York.

I go to South Carolina for college (http://www.winthrop.edu/), so I'll probably be here for a while, but I'm from Ohio.
I came in with kind of a prejudice that Southern people are racist hicks who own 40 different kinds of shotgun and can't speak proper English, but I have yet to find a proper redneck at my school. I used to be across the street from one, pickup truck, drank whiskey straight from the bottle... true redneck except that he didn't own any guns that I saw.
I still haven't seen any racists here, and I'd be a magnet for them, given that half the girls I'm likely to be seen with are black.
Well... from my experience and what I've heard, the beaches and the like here are a lot of fun.
