Why shouldn't the Jews get to experience the joys of persecuting others? Everybody's doing it.

Overreaction is a human thing. Jews were slaughtered in WWII not to mentioned persecuted for millenia so what do you expect? Now that they have their own country they are surrounded by hostile countries and by Palestinians who declare that they want to wipe them off the map. Deciding to do anything it takes to survive is wrong but understandable and not really surprising. On this problem you really can't just blame the Israelis or the Palestinians for they are both guilty. Both kill civilians indiscriminately.

There is no lack of differing religious groups in Israel. Some quite famous for gay bashing. Moreso than Jews. Some more apt to firebomb parades in Jerusalem too.

Unfortunately this is sneaking away from the important subject originally brought up, which was not that priests were going around offering money for people to murder Palestinians because they're some ethnic or political threat, but to murder gay people to try and deter Jerusalem hosting World Pride; circumstances far removed from any legitimate concerns about Israel's Arab or Muslim neighbours wanting to eradicate Isreal. Gay people don't want to eradicate Israel, they're offering no threat, and yet we hear about this conspiracy to kill people who belong to a minority that certain powerful people don't care for-- hence the thread's original drawing of a subtle point: that a country created to harbour the victims of prejudice and discrimination and murder is now home to people (who, if anyone should know better, they should) who are practicing and preaching prejudice, discrimination,and murder. It's a valid observation that shouldn't be shuffled off as the thread becomes yet another Israel vs. Palestine debate....
