I got here around 6:45 today after a 3 1/2 hour drive. The room is really nice, but the situation is DIRE-I'm in need of a food re-supply.
So lo and behold, my buddie's family came and brought me food and had me met their hot neice  !
 FT sill hotel has broad band, which sort of sucks because it's slow and there and 500+ people on this network. But it seems to work fine.
Took some pics and I'll upload them later.

What are you doing at Fort Sill, just visiting?
I've heard it really sucks. I've never been there, but the only stateside installations I've ever been to are Knox and Carson. You really should check our Carson some time, especially the 3d ACR museum (Aieeyah!). The Patton Musuem at Knox is a must see too.
Sadly, they're closing most of the posts in Germany, which was the primo place to be stationed. I'm glad I got to spend a couple of years there while I could.

it's actually pretty nice here. I have a fridge, microwave, tv, dvd player, etc, and it's cheap. I'm going to family day tommorow to watch the recruits demonstrate the knowledge and skills my tax dollars have paid for.
I'll be taking pics.

I have to admit, watching a bunch of privates getting the crap smoked out of them is pretty entertaining.

It is. I got to fondle an e-3's M16A2 today. Boy oh boy was it nice. It had seen some use, as the finish on the 'fence' had been worn off but it was beautiful. I dropped my camera in utter glee at holding such a fine weapon. Alas......I had to put it down.
Got to watch 2 privates duke it out at groundfighting, I took a video. I'll post pics here in a minute....

The soldiers put on a demonstration of their 'under fire' skills. There are two 'bad guys' (Wearing old style BDUs) in the foxhole w/ m249s and blanks. There is a squad of soldiers just going past the trees in the background. The bad guys open up, the good guys drop, advance, toss a smoke grenade to the left and another squad popped out of the woods and 'wasted' the bad guys. Awesome to watch.
Bad guys-you can see one of them peeking his head up.

The good guys, after 'shooting' the bad guys....

You'll find most M16's, especially those at a TRADOC post like Sill are more than a bit beat up. I saw a Nebraska ARNG M16 that had absolutely no blueing left on it. Someone had apparently decided that a wire brush would get it good and clean.
Pfft. If you think the 16 is a fine weapon, wait until you get to see an M240B. Now THAT is a thing of belt-fed beauty.
Meh, I certainly don't find those racks of M16's exciting. All that reminds me of is spending hours cleaning the entire company's weapons because no one but the scout platoon could get it done properly. Damned poge ass bastards not cleaning their weapons worth a shit.

Damn, everyone has those ACUs now don't they? When I got out we had the DCUs, and my unit was going going to switch back to BDU's after I left. They ended up keeping the DCUs until they deployed again, and now they've got the ACUs. I've still got 6 pairs of BDUs with CPL rank sewn on, although I never got around to sewing my combat patch on to them.
Ugh, I just realized that I arrived at Fort Knox, KY for basic training exactly 6 years ago today. If I'd stayed in I'd probably be an E-5(P) or E-6.

Yes, everyone has ACUs. I only saw one Army guy with BDUs, and that was at the chik fila in lawton.
I haven't seen any 240's yet, only SAWs an m16s. I wish I could take one home with me. Someday.
I saw Colt m16s-most had seen lots of use, and some had mismatched uppers which led me to beleive they had been re-built. There were soem M16s that were marked "US MFG" and "Made in Vernice, FL". Totally clueless about that one. I also saw tons of FNH guns.
Hey Wollonochia, here's the video of the two PFCs beating the turds out of each other.
