okay techy geeks of NS, what products (or product concepts) have you seen lately that make you say "NEAT!"?
Today I saw a couple things that I want or want to be made into reality:
A concept snowbike (actually it supposedly will be all terrain) (http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/gadgets/hyanide-snow-bike-mobile-concept-186492.php):
http://cache.gizmodo.com/images/2006/07/hyanide_main_485.jpg
A floating magnetic bed (http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/gadgets/magnetic-floating-bed-oh-your-god-184990.php):

Another thing I saw which isn't spectacular but is noteworthy is the self-parking car (http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/gadgets/bmw-makes-selfparking-car-186483.php) BMW says will be out in 3 years.

Whoa, those are both pretty cool, but the bed is the kicker. Awesome.
Although - wouldn't it move and wobble and stuff?
Also, wouldn't the magnet be so strong as to de-magnetize all your credit cards two rooms over?
And what about the strong magnetic field - aren't people always on about how having problems sleeping could be caused by electromagnetic fields and stuff?

The bed has guylines - it was in the paper the other week.
EDIT: And that bike is the shit.

Guidance wires, to make sure the bed stays above the magnetic field.

I wondered the same thing about the magnets *shrug*
The bed is anchored so it doesnt float away. :)
I never heard of electromagnetic fields causing sleep problems.

Ah, thanks for the explanation, guys.
And yeah, the electromagnetic field thing is kind of a pet peeve for the more esoterically oriented crowd, though I certainly wouldn't discount it. Eh, whatever.
That bed does look awfully good - can you say chick magnet? :p

still looking thru Gizmodo
okay I'm a big tea lover but I hate to dirty too many dishes so I'll try to swish my tea around in the cup to stir it, rather than use a spoon. This usually doesn't stir it too well and will often make a mess so I want this self-stirring mug (http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/gadgets/selfstirring-mug-for-the-spoonless-186161.php):
http://cache.gizmodo.com/images/2006/07/self_stirring_mug.jpg
Also, I think hemp is a great material to use for lots of stuff, but I want to shake the hand of the visionary that came up with hemp lingerie (http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/gadgets/hemp-finds-its-way-into-ladies-underthings-186087.php):

... chick magnet? :p
now there would be a revolutionary product... can we set it to draw in only sexy chicks?
That's why it's usually a good idea to place a backup matress underneath.

i want to use the bed as a table!
except its tied to the walls rather than the cieling... which is weird... cos you'd have to step over them...
if it was the cieling you'd be able to pull it up when you don't want it, which would be wickedly sci-fi:cool:

but yikes! what about if you have piercings? or if you want to use your laptop while in bed?

Prayer for a reinforced floor.

Then you decrease the coolness by 1000% and shouldn't have bought it.

Ohhh an equalizer t-shirt (http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/music/real-equalizer-tshirt-185982.php)!

Looking at the article it doesn't seem so, no. Impressively strong natural magnets, to work like that.

Self-driving cars, tshirts with 'video screens' and tracked all-terrain 'bikes', none of them are new :\
Still not too sure of the magnetic bed though :P
It'd destroy anything electronic that got close to it (inc credit cards and cheques... yes paper cheques rely on magnets too...)
But one cool possibility... adding onto what someone said earlier...
Using electro magnets to control the height of the bed, so you could press a button, and the bed would rise up into the ceiling :D
the tshirts - http://www.cyberdog.net/tradingstation/index.html then look at Tshirts.. then 'Light Tshirts'..theyve been around for a few years now.. theyre just expencive (£50+)

everything is cooler than Snakes on a Plane :P
~~~~~~~~~
the equalizer t-shirt is an actual equalizer though. I know clothing has had LED's and such on them before.
And yes I know there are snowmobiles already but the bike works a bit differently and looks 1000 times cooler.
They did it on Mythbusters. It tooks a natural magnet with 25lbs of power to wipe it.
