I recently came across this blog (which should send up a red flag right there) posted by an American man living in Japan. This man claims, among other things that:
The Japanese are incompetent beyond reason because of low expectations.
Most Japanese would rather ignore a problem and pretend it isn’t there as not to upset the harmony of the community.
The police are completely worthless and often ignore crime, especially public disturbances and cases of sexual harassment, but occasionally are able to “torture” a confession out of foreigners. Most crime in Japan goes unreported on a domestic and international level.
Most Japanese men are perverts and sexual harassment is rampant. Women and girls are often blamed for provoking the attacks. Sexual slavery of young girls down to elementary school is common.
Japan is not only xenophobic and insular but extremely racist, many still seeing themselves as superior to other races. Right wing rallies occur regularly, often with no attempt at counter-protest.
Most Japanese see themselves as the victim in World War II and refuse to acknowledge the atrocities they committed during their occupation of parts of Asia and their treatment of American POWs.
Outside of major tourism areas, the Japanese are extremely careless with solid and chemical waste.
Honestly, I’ve never heard anyone speak this harshly of Japan. He does provide news articles and studies for most of his accusations, but still.
