So I was wondering, have any of you met a convict, if so did you talk to them at all, or were you just scared? Here's my experience..

The other day I was heading back home from Glacier National Park in Montana and I had reached St. Cloud. I decided to pull over at a rest-stop and relax for a minute, because driving for 2 days straight can be quite boring. Anyway, I was sitting down when I saw a cop van pull up next to me. Then, an inmate of the Stillwater Prison came out, his hands and feet were cuffed, and he was in his prison uniform. As he walked by me accompanied by two guards, he looked me right in the eye and said "Don't do it...it ain't worth it. I'm serious, don't do it aigh't, it really isn't worth it."
I said softly ok. He gave me a stern look and then walked away.

One of my best friends did eight years in upstate New York in Clinton Dannemora. I've been in Jail before, but didn't do any state time.

I dated a girl for a while who had spent a year in prison for arson. I didn't find this out until we'd been dating for a while. She was actually a really nice girl, but she'd had a rather difficult life and she made a mistake.

Why would you automatically be scared of a "convict"? You have no idea what they did. They could be in prison for tax fraud for all you know.

yes, but some people are still scared when they see them, personally I wasn't because he didn't seem threatening, but then again I shouldn't assume anything

met a convict?

I am the only one in my entire extended family without a criminal record, and I only have that because I was smart enough not to do anything stupid after I turned 18.........

oh, and yeah one of my cousins is in prison on a life sentence for felony murder, he was in the car when his "friend" robbed a gas station and shot the clerk.

I think mine has been out of prison for a couple of years, which is promising. I haven't seen him for ages, though.

I've met one, although I only found out that they were a convict during the last conversation we ever had.

That was an experience.

my family has kind of looked down upon him, because he now has at least 20 tattoos and doesn't really care about anything, I hope he can find a new partner and straighten his life out

I lived with a guy who did time in San Quentin. He was alright most of the time but was something of a mean drunk. One night he went berserk and chased his wife upstairs and into my room [!] at which point my much larger roommate [who happened to be the aggressor's half brother] intervened and subdued him. Apparently he came to his senses the next day and stopped drinking. From what I remember of the following months, he actually did stop.

Maybe I ought to look into getting a job as a prison guard at the state pen.

some of the prisons are rated a lot worse than others so it depends on which prison you want to work at
