Everyone is due his day in court?

Some people would have you believe that there isn't a problem with frivilous lawsuits. Trial lawyers in particular would say there weren't enough to go around.

I give you this
Man Sues Michael Jordan because he looks like Jordan. (http://www.oregonlive.com/cgi-bin/prxy/accessor/nph-repository-cache.cgi/base/pdf_captions/1152300313292560.pdf)

edit- I should add, the local newspaper ran a picture comparing Michael and Heckard... Heckard keeps his head shaved, wears a hoop earing in his left ear, and has a goatee beard all exactly like Michael Jordan.

So, the judge will tell him "shave it" (or "shove it") and life moves on. Yes, this is a frivolous lawsuit, but if it's curbed, it might result in non-frivolous lawsuits being curbed as well. There should be some kind of examination to check wether or not it is a frivolous one.

I completely blame the US court system for the current state of upsetting moronity. Frivolous lawsuits lead to people needing to be warned that their coffee is hot (!), and a society that must post instruction on how to open a can is a society that breeds the Bush family.
woot for sweeping generalisations

This is the most pathetic thing I have ever heard, and come on if someone confused me for a celebrity I would take it as a compliment and not go sue the person I was confused for, I think that people need to see what is worthy for the time it spends in court or not before they want a trial.

See, it's stuff like this that keeps me from being a judge. If I was presiding and this case came before me, I'd charge the plaintiff with the court costs and tell him to get the hell out of my courtroom. Of course, I feel that way about most of the frivolous lawsuits that get filed every day.

I'll assume the family won that money back, and more, because he was, y'know, trying to ROB THE HOUSE, right?

If you're talking about the McDonald's suit, I promise you that you don't know a thing about that case.

If the loser had to pay all of the expenses, you'd see far fewer of this bits of crap.

Wow... That is the worst grammar I have ever seen in a legal document. In the first paragraph alone, he fails to capitalize his own name twice, and there are 8 spelling and grammatical errors besides that. Just obscene. If I were the judge, I would say "I can't read this. What's the matter, couldn't find a lawyer?"

Also, he should just start exploiting the look-alike thing, get good at forging Jordan's signature, and then eat free at every restaurant.

What the holy fuck at asking for 360 million dollars for this. I look like Harry Potter. Should I sue JK?

Everyone due his day in court? When the issue's right, you bet your sweet ass they're due a day in court. But a lawsuit because people keep saying 'Hey, has anyone ever told you you look like Michael Jordan?'.... against Michael Jordan? Hell no.

As long as we have laws we will have lawyers and law suits.

Price of freedom.
