Killing off Death: Our Fascination with Preventing Deaths

Why are people so occuppied with curing this and saving people from that? Why do people want to get rid of non-age related death, especially since there's a significant population of retarded teens who don't seem to see the link between sex and babies, even after their third child? Why are we even trying to stop death? Since when was death Satan? When has death ever been named Damien or Lucifer?

Death is the end of one journey and the beginning of another. Many religions, including Christianity, believe that death is unavoidable, that those who "escape" death simply weren't meant to die then and there. What's with our fascination with immortality and keeping everyone alive?

It's an evolutionary imperative. We're designed to:

1) want to live forever
2) die eventually

We die, so as to avoid overpopulation (that woulda worked if we hadn't been idiots and invented agriculture). But if we didn't want to live forever we'd all die a lot sooner.

EDIT: and by "designed", I of course mean "designed by the blind process of evolution over many millions of years". Incase any United Statesians got confused.

I think it's fairly natural & understandable that most people want to live for as long as we can.
