My plans are to guess how much box office money it's gonna make.

My guess: $1,000,000,000:eek:
Well, it was a popular movie, the first one, so the SECOND one must be extremely popular.
Same with Halo.

Oh, I could also care less about the movie, too.

nope. They will be keeping Stellan Skarsgård as Bootstrap for the third. It really wouldn't make sense to have Stellan as the father in one movie, and Keith as the father in the next.

Anyway, I think the movie was awesome. The plot wasn't as concrete as the first, but there was a bit more comedy in there, and it showed that they really let Depp have more fun and improv more of his role, which I thought worked great.

it has an ending. The ending just happens to be a cliffhanger, which I would assume leads well into the thrid movie. No second movie from a trilogy has a concrete ending.

This one less so then any other good movie … usually there is at least a resolution of one of the major sub plots …

This movie ended more like your daytime soap opera then a movie

Saw it tonight. Greatly entertaining movie(which is all that really matters to me). Good special effects( that Kraken attack is amazing), action and acting. I thought the Davey Jones was an intriguing villain, who for a CGI character showed incredibly expressive emotions.

Knowing that the movie was intended to be a middle film in a trilogy, I kind of expected the movie to lack a real ending, but boy what a suprise that cliffhanger was(I wasnt the only one who thought so either, the entire audience gasped). BTW anyone who sees it should stay for the end of the credit, apparently there is a extra short scene. I didn't realize it until after I saw the move, but i did find out what happens.

Like I said this was not a cliffhanger in the movie sense it was a cliffhanger in the sense of a bad daytime soap opera

Im sorry but they did not resolve a thing … I can handle a lot being left open but they did a bad job in this case

I watched it tonight. It disappointed me, mildly. I expected it to be nearly as good as the first one, but it suffered from a very slow first half hour, and then the movie just simply tried too hard after that, cramming in more and more action in sequences that already had plenty in them to begin with. The movie had a sort of disjointed feel, as a result of that. In particular, during the scenes with the Kraken, the camera moved about following the tentacles whipping frenetically across the deck, until you just about got motion sickness trying to follow what was going on. This movie screams for an IMAX release, though. But bring your air sickness bags. The scriptwriting had some continuity issues with some of the principal characters also, resulting in some rather incongruous reactions in some of the scenes.

It's strengths? Absolutely spectacular special effects, and it is very probably the next Oscar winner in makeup design. The crew serving with Davy Jones are each very unique and horrific, and each creature design has some sort of animatronic element to its' face that added to its' overall gruesomeness.

You won't like the ending though. Remember how they paired The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions? It's a lot like that. This movie is not self-contained like the first. Expect a cliff hanger.

Stick around for after the end of the credits for a quick cutscene chuckle.

I agree (specially on costumes they were amazing) but I add extra distaste to the ending this left me even more empty then the second matrix movie did

Id have to disagree with you.
*spoilers*

Let take a look at what the ending covered:
The basic premise of the third movie- probably the most important factor about that ending is that you basically know that Jack isnt dead and that his crew will journey to Asia to find a way to rescue him.
The big suprise of course was the appearance of Barbossa, who bites out of a green apple (in the first movie he longs to be able to eat the apple) suggesting that not only was he alive, but no longer a supernatural being. He is also apparently agreed to help the heroes save Jack in return for the Black Pearl. This of course is the lure to draw audience back to see the third installment.
It also settles the major conflict in the movie, the battle over Davey Jones' heart. The Commodore takes the object to the East India Trading company guy thus it is clear the he will gain control over Davey Jones'
power of the sea and according to the movie be able to end the age of Pirates forever. Is it the ideal resolution? No, but it certainly sets the stage for the climax in the third one.
*end spoilers*

The role of a second movie of a trilogy is to connect the first and third movies into a functonial storyline. It is not supposed to have an ending that is supposed to make you feel completely satisfied and have no reason to see the third one. It isn't a "soap opera" gimmick, it is good storytelling.

If it was not intended to be a movie on its own why bother making it ? Most second movies do manage to hold their own … leaving the major plot hanging while closing some of the major sub plots to leave you feel that SOMETHING is resolved if not the major connecting thread.

This movie did not do that

spoiler warning

1. first and foremost... how could jack die!? ok he's probably not dead cos he'll eat his way out of the cracken or something, but still.... noooooooooooo!!!
2. they were milking it a lot - from jack's character to the ott mythical element (overdone this time compared to last)
3. a lot of the novelty and originality had worn off (obviously)
4. bringing back wotzisface at the end was just... wtf? he died... like, very, very dead.
5. i realised last night that nothing really happened... they looked for the key, got the key, some hilarity ensued, jack died, the end. its a bit of a good twist that the EITC has the heart but overall it was a drawn-out linear plot that does little more than set up another movie (mmm go hollywood business execs)
6. orlando bloom is still far too soft-spoken and wooden - i'm not actually sure he's that good an actor (look at kingdom of heaven, lotr... thats about all i've seen him in though so meh)
7. other than all that, it WAS thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyable, and a great action-romp :P
8. special effects were amazing and seamlessly integrated with the whole look and feel of the movie. everything was done to a very high standard (little things like noticing all the barnacles and roughness on the flying dutchman... good!)
9. i want dreadlocks even more now :p
10. i don't like keira nightly... weird letterbox mouth and boyish looks. quite decent at the acting lark though
