Madonna Era Over?

Yes Folks the "Queen of Pop" "Material Girl" the one and only Madonna!! As history has shown us she is the most famous female signer in the world. She is 4th on the list of most sold albums. Madonna was seen as an Icon in the
80's,90's and early 00's. But does she still have the looks and her talents. Seems to me Madonna can look pretty when she wants but other times she looks she got out of a trashcan. Is madonna as popular in the past. She has some enemys now coming into the 21st century with this new crap. I think since madonna has done things that no other person would dare doing?

Does Madonna still have it or is her boat finnally sinking?

This kinda sounds like a commercial for some primetime TV special on Madonna.

1998 I think. Though she has came out with 3 in the 00's but only 2 were very very popular!

She owns her own record company and can promote herself relentlessly.. otherwise, she'd be history, as most people would surely prefer.

Can she still strap on a leotard, play some cheesy techno, run her voice through a synthesizer and make enough money to buy and sell your entire family a thousand times over? Yes

There seem to have been several "Madonna eras". They come, they go, they come again. There have been, what, three of them now? Or is it four?

She never had it to begin with. Other than a bared navel, and a sinuous dance in a gondola captured on film. And even that was hype.

Besides, she single-handedly brought about the demise of Handmade Films - Shanghai Surprise, anyone? And for that alone, her name is mud with me.

madonna is no longer original - and her albums are very samey

she had staying power when she had a shock value element to her work - it takes a lot to shock today's consumer - it's only a matter of time before she had to admit defeat

and bring out her own line of chav-esque baby wear

I'd say True Blue (1986) was the end of Madonna as a "good thing" and the startr of Madonna as a commercial thing. Like A Prayer (1989) was the End of the end. Everything after that was garbage.

I'm down on my knees, I want to take you there.
In the midnight hour, I can feel your power.
Just like a prayer, I wanna take you there!"

Now if thats not some hidden innuendo I dont know what is!:D

I kinda see her like David Bowie. Great innovator and has the uncanny ability to reinvent herself. Like Bowie, I don't think Madonna will really ever "go away". Great staying power.

Like her personally or not, she most assuredly has talent and I, for one, always look forward to hearing her new stuff.

Well that's subjective, isn't it? I thought 2002's "Heathen" was brilliant. Not so much a fan of 2003's "Reality", but again, that's subjective. "The Buddha of Suburbia" (1993) was pretty good, too.

I don't know about that. Bowie's innovations came through music; Madonna was more about finding different kinks to play with men's fantasies. That made her hot in the early 80's when she was using MTV to seduce adolescent Xers by rolling on the ground in a wedding dress or sodding off at prudes who complained about her early nude photos. Today, however, when just about everybody has a sex video out and virginity is a fairly quaint kink, she just doesn't really have any tricks left to play. As a result, Bowie remains around because he built his icon on talent, whereas Madonna built hers on image.

Madonna? Bah! There are far more pressing issues to be discussed- like the potential release of a third album by Alizée.
