Organ Harvesting?

The following article accuses China of harvesting organs from Falun Gong members for transplant. Is it possible that China is not only imprisoning people for their religious belief, but also harvesting their organs? Seems a little too evil even for China.

There's a big market for organs, considering they can mean the difference between life and death. To my knowledge, the next of kin only receive the ashes , making it rather easy to hide whether or not organs were removed.

Organ harvesting (without the consent of the family of the deceased prisoner) has been going on for a looooooooong time. China is also the state which has the most number of prisoner executions.

I think somebody it is a business there.

Probably prison officials and Chinese government is quite happy with the practice.

The medical community has long suspected that China harvests the organs of all sorts of prisoners - political dissidents, etc. Considering that they guarrantee a supply of whatever organ a person who can pay might want, that's about the only way it makes sense.

It's also the reason that I am somewhat wishy washy about going to see the Bodies Exhibit. I know that China claimed the bodies used in it were "unclaimed".

It's a pretty damn good business if you ask me.

I don't think people should be asked if they want to donate their organs or not, anyway. They're dead, what possible use could they have for them?

Just take them and make the rest into Soylent Green.

Yeah, but it's kind of fucked up if they're dead because the Chinese government decided it doesnt' like their religion but it does like their organs.

I cant believe China would do such a thing!
It must be the United States fault.
Surely, only evil capitalists would create such an enterprise.

Organ harvesting by the authorities isn't limited to dodgy governments.

Well, that's true. It would also suck if it were like in "The Meaning of Life."

Yeah, but at least the organs the NHS took weren't from people executed for their religious belief.

I'm sure that made the families feel soooo much better.

NHS Spokesman - 'It's ok you guys only buried half of your dead babies coz they weren't executed for their religious belief'

Why is it that people get really upset when its foreign governments doing these things but the reaction to it happening at home is much more 'meh'?

Well I know I'd be more upset about my hypothetical baby being executed than about it's organs being harvested.

Is this thread about the organ harvesting or the fact the people were executed? If the latter then the thread title was a little misleading.

Since when is China evil? I've been to China, and they are very much like Americans, except thinner, and Asian.

About the whole organ harvesting, i heard about that a while ago. I don't see a too big of problem with it. Not like the dead are going to need them. ;)

The problem is that they are responsible for the people being dead in the first place and then taking the organs.

But killing an alive person based on their religious beliefs just to take their insides is pretty wrong IMO.
