Looking forward to it...

Maybe a little bit early, but I just found out that Germany will be making a few changes.

Mertesacker won't be playing, he's hurt. Probably the same with Arne Friedrich.

Klose's still got some pains - probably all the little things you don't notice in the euphoria, but which hit all the worse when things go wrong. But I reckon he'll still make it.

But yeah, it'll be another German side. Gerald Asamoah might start as well, who knows.

But the best thing: Kahn is back! As a reward for having been a good guy over the course of the tournament, he'll be starting in goal. Whether or not he's better than Lehmann, I don't really know. But a German team without Kahn, that was just a little suspect. :D

And here a few more reactions to the German loss:

Khan let in four goals in one CL match while Lehman kept a record amount of clean sheets, sadly the one player who really deserved a medal for his great season seems cursed not to get one, we would have won the CL if the ref hadn't attentionhogged. If Van Bommel had scored that disallowed goal, the ref would have allowed it. If Lehman is a quieter then what is Khan? Did he let them in delibratly or is he a far worse keeper?

He did try to save the chip but it was too high, go find a picture, Lehman's hand is up to save it

Lehman should play, Khan has had his chance in a World Cup final, this is Lehman's last, he should play and get a third place medal.

I wish I could change my vote, Khan to let in 3 and Germany to lose

Michael Ballack won't be playing, either. Neither will Per Mertesacker, nor Arne Friedrich. Man, Tim Borowski's also not in the best shape [according to ARD Videotext].

But, FIFA gave Lukas "Prinz Poldi" Podolski the award for "best newcomer" and there are 4 Germans on the Allstar Team, including Jens Lehmann, Philipp Lahm, Michael Ballack, and Miroslav "Miro" Klose. Klose and Ballack are also nominated for "best player".

Looking forward to tomorrow's game, hope the Jungs will make 3rd place.

Bah, no way. You will notice there aren't any number for Germany until 1992 - that's because we were off the chart before then. :D

I think Kahn deserves it. I mean, best player last tournament, then put on the bench, and his biggest rival gets a go?

Most players his age would probably have quit. But he made his way through it, and any doubts that may have been left were settled in the penalties against Argentina (Kahn waited for the cameras to film him before he patted Lehmann on the back :D ).

He's behaved like a real man, and he deserves this match.

And I think the game is very entertaining to watch so far. I got a bit scared around minute 15 when Portugal seemed to take over the game, but luckily that passed.

And man, I kinda feel sorry for Ronaldo - the audience really hates him. But hey - you could kinda hear them making grudgingly acknowledging noises when his impressive skippy little ball tricks were shown on the big screen and when he managed to outplay several defenders - but no, he goes and makes a dive. Isn't that always the case? I thought South Korea-Turkey was way more entertaining. It's amazing the football that's played when you don't have the kind of stress that comes with playing in a final. And as for your previous post about Frings... I'd have to agree to a point. I also think Ballack was trying to shoulder too much on his own and didn't really get good service into Klose and Podolski, although you have to give Italy's defense a lot of credit, even if catenaccio is boring as hell to watch, but it's what they do best.

Well, if they go to C2, then they have to go to C1, then B, then back to A and hope to win A before they make CL again, so you're looking at 4 years minimum before they could return to CL, if they go down as far as C2.

I've found that's usual among Americans. Support only winners all the time. If you associate yourself with losers, you're a loser yourself.

But, despite Germany's bad match against Italy, I love the German team. They really impressed me this World Cup. That's why I want Klinsmann to stay for as long as we can have him. Hopefully by the time he officially retires from soccer, he'll have Loew trained to pick up where Klinsmann left off. Or, if not Loew, then someone else who will stick with Klinsmann's tactics.

It is definatly Khan's last...

Of course, it was half hearted racing off his line, half hearted trying to get a hand too it. Let us ignore it being a brilliant chip and past him before any keeper could react, it must be becuase Lehman is lazy.

I belive they do all get a medal however wouldn't you prefer to play in the match and get it rather then just be a squad player?

Of course, it was half hearted racing off his line, half hearted trying to get a hand too it. Let us ignore it being a brilliant chip and past him before any keeper could react, it must be becuase Lehman is lazy.

I belive they do all get a medal however wouldn't you prefer to play in the match and get it rather then just be a squad player?

Good game, scoreline slightly harsh on Portugal but there you go, Khan looked like he had back the years, the scorer suddenly found form and we had an open game. Why couldn't Ricardo play like that against England?;)
Once he was up he had no conviction in his punch.

He tried to get a hand to it to deflect it but it was already past him. Remember Real against Arsenal? Rual shot across Lehman and against the post, Lehman was left stranded on the six yard line as Rual hit the rebound yet Lehman dived back and flipped it away from goal. Liverpool against Arsenal, parries a long shot and gets back up, again diving back but the ball deflects off his arm and in, just. Does that sound like a quitter?

Well, it's over. Germany get 3rd place.
I tell ya, if Germany doesn't win 2010, there is no god. This squad is great.
Are you the same guy who just bashed the German team after their unlucky loss against Italy on Tuesday? Infuckingcrebible. :D Glad you changed your mind!
You realize about half, if not all, of those teams don't have soccer teams? Particularly the Vatican.
Oh, but the http://www.studip.uni-goettingen.de/pictures/smile/papst.gif does have a football team:

Ha! You shift your opinions quickly. A couple of days ago you were flaming everything German, basically.
Glad somebody realized that as well. Think GA's back on track now :p

I wonder, are there any countries in the world that have no soccer teams? I would think there would be a lot of African nations without them, considering the cost of running them. But considering that Cote d'Ivoire, Togo, and Ghana made it into the 2006 World Cup, maybe there aren't any countries without teams.

Nope. Every single recognised sovereign nation is the world has a football team, and all recognised sovereign countries in Africa (i.e., excluding Western Sahara) are members of FIFA.

In addition, virtually every non-sovereign country or territory in the world has a national football team, and some are members of FIFA (American Samoa is the best known example, but far from the only one).

Even Sealand claims to have a national football team (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealand_national_football_team), but it seems the players aren't citizens of Sealand, which would, to my knowledge, make the claim invalid.
