According to an email I got, I won a random lottery because multinationals just like giving money away (although it seems they can't pay for their own email servers, all the addresses are from yahoo mail) I just have to give all my banking details to a nice chap in Nigeria and they'll send me my £980,000.

However, the thing that really made me laugh hard was the following:

We hope that with part of your prize, you will participate in our end of year high stakes for US$ 12.3 Billion international draw.

:D

C'mon! 12.3 BILLION! Who's gonna fall for that! Geez, for a scam to work it has to look at least half way possible.

Apparently, I have been selected from an 'international registry of investors' for a confidential business venture.

I guess you're one of the lucky 6,831 people who were selected for the high-stakes lottery.

That nothing, I was told that if I held on to billions of dollars for a Nigeria Prince, that after he got over here I would get half of it! All they asked for was my bank account information!

I always wondered why someone didn't start an account with maybe $25 (usual bank minimum for opening an account), take out $24 once it's established (leaving only $1 balance), then give that account number to the people in the email.

Wouldn't it be funny if the one time someone did that, the email was legit?

That's different from the one I got. I got one stating I won one in the UK, and all I had to do was give them lots of personal information.
