compulsions?

I am convinced that everyone has compulsions. For example, every time I am using a scientific or graphing calculator, before I turn it off, I must reset the memory. Odd isn't it? Well if any of you have compulsions (and I know you do), tell me. Also if you have more than one, share 'em all. Don't be shy! :)

i HAVE to find a missing pair or shoes/socks and put them together(it's even sadder the reason why...), and i have to close a door, no matter what

I have to switch the lights on and off 16 times before leaving a room or else my family will die.

I have to fill up any water bottles when they are empty. And I have to sleep the door to my room shut.

If I do something and it doesn't feel right, I have to re-do it.

Even with putting headphones on..

If I make a spelling mistake in a word-processor I have to erase the whole word instead of just the bit that is wrong. I could probably write pages on this though, I'm obsessive-compulsive :D

When I wake up, I have to find my glasses (it bothers me when I can't see) and I have to check the news (before I even eat). I also get weird if I go too long without checking the news.

My boyfriend has to have chocolate every day. Just a very small bit will do. He goes nuts without having that small sweet snack. He also has to have his tea in the morning. I figured out that if I make tea for him when he first gets up, then he makes a big breakfast for us both. :p

My cat HAS to have her treats and tries to get them before I check the news. She also needs her bowl always full or she flips out. Needless to say, I have to keep it full and then put the "old" crunchy food (just poured in earlier that day) on top so her food stays fresh. Those are her compulsions. :)

For some reason I have to chew food the same number of times on both sides of my mouth. Also, even though I am an inately untidy, I have to keep things lined up.

As a kid I had a fifteen minute ritual that I had to complete before I went to sleep (I was and am an insomniac). I had a counting section, a breathing section, a series of checks of my room for danger (and I still do one of those), and a series of times I would get up to go use the bathroom.

It was crazy. That said, it got me to sleep and when I didn't do it I would be up until 5 in the morning.

I have to have a big quilt over me to sleep, even in high summer.

when turning off a calculator or similar piece of equipment, i have to press the off button loads of time... maybe 10 times? not sure why. same goes for locking my car - have to press the lock button on the wireless thinhy tonnes of times.

i also sympathise with the quilt and door ones: can't sleep on top of the covers cos it just doesn't feel right and i feel exposed. and i have to keep my door closed all the time or i also feel exposed somehow :P

When I'm at school and it's the end of the day, I almost always space out infront of my locker for like 15 minutes. I talk to a few people, ponder a few things, and then finally I realize what I'm there for. That's me so very smart.

Ya, I used to be quite OCD. Then I talked to a psycologist dude for a while and for some reason talking about it made me stop having to take 4 gulps of water, and 4 steps on a sidewalk square, etc. Everything had to be fours. I think that music might have been the cause. You know, 4/4 time. I don't know, I haven't taken psychology. I also had to check under my bed and the doors to see if they're locked. Some of the things are slowly starting up again.

Powers of two, and rotational symmetry. They're very closely related, since I'm such a visual thinker.
