WASHINGTON DC- In the largest grant ever given, the National Endowment for the Arts has presented the United States Government with $100 billion for its continuing work with 'The Art of War.' "Since 2003 the United States Government has had to rely purely on its own monetary reserves for this massive project," the NEA Chairperson Dana Gioia told reporters at a special ceremony. "But now, thanks to this grant, nearly a third of the cost of this work in Iraq will be offset." The action has been praised from all sides of the political spectrum. John McCain [R-AZ]: "Not only have Republicans supported this due to the nature of the art supported, but Democrats are overjoyed that this grant is helping preserve the culture of not only America but also Iraq." Even though the NEA's funding was only $121 million dollars for 2004, President Bush gave the NEA just over $100 billion for 2006. Due to this tremendous contribution the NEA will be unable to give any more grants away this year.
