In my opinion, AC/DC is one of, if not the best, rock bands ever. The Young brothers, Angus and Malcolm, played the guitar so well that it makes you just want to go destroy something. The rough screams of Bon Scott and Brian Johnson can not be matched, but the force they were able to put into high-pitched singing is incredible. Who thought that high pitches could sound so cool, so manly, so tough? Those four elements, along with the drumming of Phil Ruud and the bass playing of Cliff Williams, helped make one of the most popular bands of the 70s, 80s, and early 90s. From "Highway to Hell" to "Back in Black" to "Thunderstruck", any song by this group defined the music of the time. As someone said, "Its incredible how the rock group AC/DC can make almost any music sound kickass, for example, the "Hokey Pokey": (Impression of Brian Johnson) You put your right fooooottt innnn...(Guitar solo)" and so on. AC/DC definitely is one of greatest rock bands ever.

They're OK. Simple, fun rock music. Nothing too artsy, nothing pretentious, just some fun tunes.

I also liked how they were able to deliver such good music so simply.

The best description I've ever heard of them is that they only play three cords, but they play them better than anybody else.

But yes, they are a really good hard rock band. Offhand, the only groups I can think of that can top them are Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin.

I'm amazed that Bon Scott didn't cough up a lung every time he sang. He 'twas amazing at what he did.

Big Balls is still one of the best songs to sing with a bunch of drunk friends.

Led Zeppelin did everything AC/DC did, but better.

AC/DC are fun. its music about getting beered up and being a silly boy. Marvellous. Im a huge fan.

Zep were a touch more pretensious with their music.

I don't know about that. Zeppelin was more varied in its composition, and they usually had way more complex musical arrangements. AC/DC is much more stipped-down and streamlined by contrast. Plus, I've never once heard Bon Scott or Brian Johnson sing about Gollum or any other Tolkien reference. They're all about sex, drugs, and rock n' roll.

Don't get me wrong, Zep is by and large a better band, but as far as straight-up bluesy rock goes, Zep doesn't specialize in it, nor are they as good as that subtype of rock n' roll as AC/DC is.

Yeah, I agree completely that Led Zeppelin is a better band.

I always have thought that Angus Young is probably one of the most underrated guitarists ever.

I personally find Zepplen had about as much variety as there are flavors of Butter. Don't get me wrong there still a good band, but there still not as good as people say they are.

AC/DC is defenatly Kick ass band. They were more metal than 99.999% of all 80's metal IMHO

They're OK-ish.

I'm a hard rock fan, but not particularly wild about AC/DC. They have made good songs, but don't (in my opinion) have enough variety to bring them into league with my favourite. For instance Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple or Guns 'N' Roses.

All great bands.. well except for Zeppelin, still probably a great band.. but I'm fucking sick of them.. There is a new band out right now that I saw mentioned on here.. so I went to check em out.. Wolfmother.. is it me or do they sound A LOT like Led Zeppelin?
