What turns you on? OTHER than sex, that is ... that's a given. Well, what is it? Your profession ( please say what it is ), your family ( describe them ), your hobby or hobbies ( explain them ) ... what??

For me it's several things: my family ( all 18 of them! ), learning something new, speed ... I love going fast, and helping others. :D

As for me, right now I couldn't say really... actually, yeah I could. The select, of fairly large, group of friends at college who are actually the most awesome bunch of dudes ever. We all go together like tiredness and an inability to think up decent similes :D

Shooting guns, airsoft milsim games, speeding, fine dining, Hamdan v Rumsfeld, drinking, reading.

I think 'turns you on' isn't the proper way to describe what you enjoy.

intelligence and common sense is a turn on for me. dont get a lot of that these days though.

the thought of bringing a new life into the world and being a good parent... i suppose family then, yeah :)
being creative (like feeling i've accomplished something good with photography)
laughing and making other people laugh
helping people genuinely

Anyway...

What I do, for the most part, turns me on. I can't say I'm super thrilled at making a lot of reality shows, but even that has its moments. I worked hard to get to just this entry level and am still excited to do it even a year later, which is why it comes up so often for me. (I'm freelance crew for film/television. I've done programs for CBS (never aired), UPN (cancelled before the episode I did), FOX (sorry), Speed (again this year, too-best job by any standard), HGTV, Discovery, Food Network, etc. as well as some movies (two, two whole entries on IMDb...only I care), and some odd ball stuff like the Exotic Erotic Ball (it's strange to be done with naked people))

Theater turns me on. Similar to film for me, it's creating a world that's wholy artificial out of nothing. With theater there is the ephemaral nature of it, that it's created only for the moment, for those present and then gone. I don't like acting, so I don't. But writing for it, dramaturgy and media design I've done and thoroughly enjoyed. When you respect your colaborators colaborative art can really be a kick. Seeing people bring life to something you wrote is really amazing, can't be described.

On that note, playing in a solid band (see what I did there?). Usually this means a band assembled by a drummer because they tend to pick people who listen to them instead of treat them like a metronome. When you play a figure in a solo and hear it come back at you, it's a whole different level of playing.

The world might shatter, but I agree with Trusci, going fast is a special kind of thrill. Though for me it can't just be in a straight line. Any yutz can go fast in a straight line, but from corner to corner-that's where it's at. Add to that someone trying to go even faster so much the better. If it's on an oval with opposite lock steering with the gas pedal or on a knotted road couse, it's fucking fantastic.

Working things out is pretty cool, too. Though that really ends up feeding the playwrighting, so it's kind of redundant.

Isn't the whole point of that to turn you on? Of course, to have reached that point... ;)

Loud angry music. Nothing else has been working for me of late. The things I normally take joy in (I.E. Books, news, video games, and puzzles) just haven't been working. I've been subsisting on a diet of DC Hardcore and late nights (the two don't mix very well, unless you like pissing off your neighbors/family).

And frankly I don't know why I'm like this.
