OK, we know for the most part that the England squad for world cup '06 was a bit over-rated for internationals- no doubt about their league performance, but for England this year most players had a dreadful tournament.
So post suggestions and ideas that McClaren should implement for Euro 2008 etc!
My suggestions would be;
GK- P. Robinson
Deffense- pretty much the same, cos they seem to be our lifeblood, but no carragher or neville
Midfield- Gerrard, Downing, Cole, Lennon
Strikers- Rooney (give a blockhead a chance) and Walcott ( i know its heresy, but we need to know what he's made of)
So feel free to send ideas!!

Gerrard for England captain. I suspect Becks might retire before next world cup.

Rooney did nothing!
Leave him alone.

I thought Becks had already retired?

Also, Lennon has to become mainstay. Did you see that speed?

Does Beckham retiring from Captaincy mean that he's retired from the international scene completely?

Retire as a player - I know he's not captain now.
Lennon was good when he came on, running rings around defenders. Hope he gets more games for England!

Ashton up front. He's gonna be better than platt was Easily.
Gotta say, Crewe produces GOOD players :D
Midfield- Gerrard, Downing, Cole, Lennon
Is Gerrard playing as the holding role with Cole as an attacking midfielder? Also who plays right back if Neville and Carragher are out? Two great/good defenders?
For me, England to play a 4-1-4-1 formation and most importantly, play the ball on the ground. Any who keeps long balling it, will be dropped. Even the captain
Captain: Terry
Gk: Robinson, better keeper then he showed, did better in the knock out stages
DF: Neville, A.Cole, Terry, Cambell
Holding player: Hargreves
MF: Beckham, J.Cole, Lampard, Gerrard
ST: Crouch
Beckhman can be replaced with Lennon, Neville with Carragher, Cambell with Ferdinand, Lampard/Gerrard with Carrick. All this would depend on form and I'm guessing Lampard will be back on form
