So who here was a fan of the old wrasslin'? IMO, the period ended around 1999 or so. I miss the days where the rock was a bad guy(well he was first beginning his career), or when the Hart family ruled the ring. What about when the Undertaked first found his brother Kane, and his father Paul Bearer? Hehe. I miss those old days of wrestling, where there was actually competition and the script writers had to make something creative, instead of the BS today. I miss the Nation of Domination, Brett Hart, Sgt. Slaughter, Macho Man, Jake the Snake and so much more. Discuss the old time wrestling (anything before 1999 or 2000) :)

Ahh the good ol' days. The Shawn Michaels/Bret Hart rivalry. The Ministry of Darkness vs the Federation and the old DX. All gone....

Hmm...I wonder where my name and nations flag came from?

One of my favorite rivalries was SCSA vs VKM. That was some funny shit right there.

Man, 1999 is old school?
I feel old. I thought you were going to talk about real old school wrestlers, like Andre, Giant Haystacks, or Big Daddy.

Well, I only started watching wrestling a few years ago, so...I'm sorry! But I do love wrestling now! For example, I'm enjoying the return of DX! (Suck it!)

I still prefer the really big guys, like these two:

Now that would have been a match worth watching!

Wrestling is a soap opera with sweaty men in spandex and always has been.

Yep! Isn't it great?

EDIT: Sometimes they oil themselves up, too.

Or Big John Studd and Nick Bockwinkle, Harley Race and the Fabulous Freebirds, the Junkyard Dog and Ted DiBiase. Ah, my pre-teen years.

You forgot to mention the homoeroticism that's implicit because they're sweaty men in spandex.

I prefer Sumo myself.

My english teacher's brother is a professional American wrestler, though. The Green Lightning, or something like that. Can't really remember the guy's stage name.

Now that looks fun!

I saw Big Daddy fight Giant Haystacks when I was little.... that was my first taste of Wrestling. It had none of the WWF (as it was) glam about it.

As for WWF though - Hawk and Animal ruled!!

I think Professional Wrestling reached it's zenith when Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior squared off in Wrestlemania III. Once the Hulkster was dethroned, wrestling was never the same again.

The new stuff is practically soft-core porn, with bra and panty matches and all that. Andre the Giant would cry.

Only because he didn't have enough blood in his body to both keep him alive and give him an erection during a bra and panties match :p

I still like pro-wrestling. For those who want a blast from the past, HHH and HBK have re-formed DX. I am sad to see what they have done to women's wrestling. I hope TNA starts a women's division.

Another Degeneration X? Will there be all the original members?

No, just HHH and HBK. Road Dogg and Billy Gunn are both in TNA. They still use the "suck it" thing and when they come out, TNA fans do the DX "X" with their arms. However, they do not claim to be DX and go by "The James Gang." Chyna will never work again for the WWE and although they thought about bringing back X-Pac, there i just too much bad blood between him and the WWE.

I think they'll just keep it HHH and HBK because they make it work and it was their idea. HBK is a bit uneasy at his role in the new DX because he is a born-again Christian and doesn't want to do anything that goes against his faith. They get around this a couple of ways, but it will be harder as time goes on. I expect this will last only a couple of months, depending on when HHH wants a title run.

I miss Marty Jannetty before drugs, Tatanka before turning old, the Ultimate Warrior before christianity and Hunter Hearst Helmsley before he turned triple H.

Speaking of Giant Haystacks (who was an inch taller and about 50lb heavier than Andre, so deserved "world's biggest athlete' over Andre), an on-line biography said after he retired he sucessfully ran a Debt collection agency.
No kidding it was successful.
Who wouldn't pay when a 7' tall, 550lb partially shaved gorilla turns up on your door demanding money?
