WTF? No thread yet? Alright then.

I hope France wins because I love Zidane so much, but eh.

Brazil 3:2.

No poll - kickoff in 5 minutes, no point really (because I would have closed it at kickoff)

That's basically what I was implying. If I tell you that Team 1, Team 2, Team 3 and Team 4 are in the running to win the WC, you'd tell me that the odds of each team is 1 in 4. If I reveal that said teams are Germany, Western Sahara, American Samoa and Vatican City, you'd be favouring Germany a lot.

Germany would have better odds, but they'd still only have a 1 in 4 chance. And I was saying Portugal have a 1 in 4 chance based purely on the fact that I hope Brazil/France winner makes the American Samoan worst ever defeat look like a close contest.

The only way to get correct odds is to compared every player on every team and compare records. And that's tedious shit.

So on the off chance that this one goes to PK's as well, what do you think will be the total increase in the number of heart attacks as a cause of death be? Of course, you could always have one of my smarmy employees who stated earlier, "Why don't they just start the game with PK's and save all the trouble?" Of course, as I'm typing this Henry just scored. It's so cool listening to the Spanish announcers, they sound just like fire engine sirens whenever someone scores.

They just showed several replays and analyses of the goal (which I had missed becasue I wasn#t in the room).
Hilarious.
If you guys catch the replay again, pay attention to those 4 Brazil players who just stand there on the line and kinda look at the ball without moving even one single inch throughout the whole scene. They just stand there while 5 (!) French players are between them and their goal and are busy scoring.

Insane. Apart from their "scare-factor", there weren't really many things speaking for Brazil this year.

It will be interesting to see what the Brazilian press have to say tomorrow. There will be a lot of "We warned you Perreira" type editorials I think.

How on earth did Perreira leave the team unchanged for so long? They were stationary and idealess. Brazil only started looking remotely threatening after Cicinho came on.

We are terribly shocked/crushed only because we have a lot of the best players of the world and they don´t play nothing. They don´t fight all the games. They don´t deserve to win. To win is necessary to have a team and not only the best players.

Parreira is an idiot. I don´t remember any good job he made in a team. Brazil won the WC on USA only because the other teams are worst. And he had a lot of good luck too. And on the next WC lost to France with a team better than the USA team.

On Japan, our team was not the better but Felipão made it play to win ... and we won.

Really? So are people maybe not even going to be all that terribly shocked/crushed that their team didn't make it?

Scolari always says that in Brazil you have 180 million trainers.

The way Brazil played I´d rather have the Mannschaft play against them then these French.
Yeah, I've been thinking that myself, but then again - even when they suck they still have some good players, and it would have been the final, so I could totally see Ronaldinho (and maybe even Ronaldo *gasp*) wake up just in time to run circles around us...
France seems like a more manageable oppenent, in a way, because they're easier to grasp, not quite so fickle and volatile.
But what do I know. *shrug*

Me too. I´m half german. But I´m half italian too.:D

But I love Portugal because our history. Think ... Portugal is a small country with a small population too. But conquer and keep for a long time a very big country like Brazil and made us a unified country.
When the Portugese arrived on the shores of Brazil there wasn´t that much to conquere. It was hardly inhabitet.

Yep, exactly right. Quite a waste of talent, really.

That's very well possible.

I would rather like to see a France-Germany final, though. :)
As do i ,oh the jokes to be heard.

Well, it certainly would be a contest of pure skill and teamwork. Hmm. Hopefully the Portugese will take out Zidane for us. Figo could headbutt him. Go Portugal!!! I want another Dutch game of them against France.

Go study some pre colombian american history (not US - American), or simply don't post such ignorant comments - you're choice.

Yeah, well, they were stupid enough today, so I'd wager they could only get worse then.

Do any of you funnyguys even know or care that Germany and France actually get along most brilliantly? For people here, the war is simply a non-issue when they think of France.
I have yet to come across the French giving us shit about WWII or vice versa.

Very different from the English, obviously.

I guess i missed the jokes and i can't be bothered looking for them.

Sure, you both are unified in snubbing Americas demands and urgings for Troops for Iraq.
The difference is both nations were 'destroyed' in World War Two.
France can't laugh because they got rolled up so quickly and Germany can't because you eventually got crushed.

The English have a perverse humor which they were kind enough to pass on to us and Australia.
But also more importantly we haven't had our Countries attacked.

Plus the French are 'dicks' because they send spies over here to blow up boats.

The powerhouse of football known as Japan. ;) The only person I feel sorry for is Cafu b/c he's like 140 or something.

i dont care if someone else answered to this it just gets on my nerves when people say Cafu is old he's around 36...Cafu really cool to...i bet he was shaking the French players hands and smiling like any man who loves a good match win or lose would do.
