I'd say:

The Golden Shoe: Klose or Ronaldo
The Golden Ball: Too early to tell
The Yashin Award: Lehmann
The FIFA Fair Play Award: No idea
The Most Entertaining Team: Germany or Brazil

I think you're being a bit hard on Ballack, AB. That "dive" of his actually was a hit in the face. Maybe he went down a bit easily, but he was hit.

Seconded.
Sigh.

Portugal-bashing is quite funny really..
First Netherlands and now England.. Tut tut.

Ronaldo is one of the best footballers in the World. You're probably a much better actress than he is ;)

RPP may be - I don't know I have never seen him play, but CR is one prima donna. Have you seen his face when the referee doesn't give him a free kick for his latest swan lake death scene?

Add to that his penchant for doing lots of tricks and then either losing the ball or nearly blasting it out of the stadium, it is difficult to call him one of the best players in the world. (I have the same gripe with Ronaldinho and Robinho.)

(I am not Portugal bashing in this case, I am specifically Cristiano Ronaldo bashing. He is as bad playing for Man U as he is playing for Portugal)

Ronaldo is one of the best footballers in the World.

Over-rated as fuck. He's quick and can just about pass and shoot. More often than not, his "trickery" lands hhim on his arse crying his eyes out for mummy.

Edit: He's worse for Man.Ure than he is for Portugal.

Fair call I guess. I think RRP is right though. For Man U he does suck sometimes. But you can't say that he doesn't show moments of brilliance. There are many clips around the internet showing just how good he is. Not just flashing ball skills. Actual games where he does great stuff.

There is also documented evidence of Albert Luque scoring goals.

The big problem with him is that he only ever thinks of himself. Portugal could have scored at least twice as many goals this world cup if CR had any concept of passing to a colleague in a better position to shoot. But no, he blasts away as ever. (His only goal coming from a penalty)

I still think Portugal are a better team with him. Perhaps he doesn't do them justice but they're winning and you can't really complain about that (well, if you support them anyway).

The FIFA Fair Play Award is a team award, and it can only be won by teams that got into/passed (I can't remember which) Round 2.

I agree with every accept the yashin and most entertaining team. I think the yashin will go to Lehmann and Germany will get the most entertaining team award. Scoring 4 goals in the 1st game in the world cup, the late goal against Poland and then winning in PK's the last go round. Some pretty exciting stuff.

I have to revise mine now, fucking Brazil. >_>

The Golden Shoe: Klose
The Golden Ball: Too early to tell
The Yashin Award: Lehmann

The Most Entertaining Team: Germany
The Best Young Player: Is Ribery young? Don't look young. Maybe C.Ronaldo...

Alrighty then.

The Golden Shoe: Klose would have to be a (hehe) close 1st, although I'm sure some Portugese guy could give him a run for his money.
The Golden Ball: No idea.
The Yashin Award: Kalac :p (no really, I mean Lehmann)
FIFA Fair Play Award: I'd have to say probably Trinidad and Tobago.
Most Entertaining Team: Argentina. I mean come on, there was plaenty of action (six goals in one game), drama (that brawl), and with the exception of the coach, a terrific performance (read: acting) by the entire cast.
Best Young player: Who cares? Kids don't count remember.

The Golden Shoe: Klose
The Golden Ball: Cannavaro, if there's any justice. But don't hold your breath waiting for a defender to win it.
The Yashin Award: Zubherbuhler (Switzerland) or Buffon.
The FIFA Fair Play Award: Would've been Germany but for Frings letting them down after the Argentina match. Erm, possibly Spain.
The Most Entertaining Team: Spain, Italy or Germany
The Best Young Player: Podolski won it, didn't he?
