The usual question - will Germany beat Argentina - oops no will Ukraine upset the Italians?

Not really; a loss is a loss. You end up wanting someone to avenge that loss.

Ukraine put too much emphasis on Shevchenko. They have to play everything through him. If he is man marked, or double teamed, Ukraine will wilt and by muscled out of the game.

When that goal was scored the Keepers LOS was blocked by the defender so his reaction was slow...

We are closing in on halftime and it is still 1-0 Italy.

It's been a bit dull. The Italians seem to be throwing themselves to the ground at any opportunity, and the Ukrainians don't seem to have a clue how to get through the Italian defence. I don't see Ukraine scoring, and Italy will be happy to sit back and soak up pressure.

I'd say Germany. Ukraine is sub-par competition. And Germany beat Argentina, who, IMO, if they hadn't lost to Germany, would have won the cup.

Could be a very good match. Italy are playing well, even if it has been against poor teams. Their defence is solid (only conceded once, and that was an own goal), and their attack is very good.

Yeah...I'm kinda hoping Portugal win (oh, how patriotic I am), just for a bit more money.

Ukraine tried their best for their first world cup and made the quaterfinals, surprising many.

Germany vs Italy, classic game it will be. I hope Ballack and company prevail.

Wow The Ukraine had four really really good chances in that game, even if it took them 33 or so minutes to get ashot on goal and the fact that Italy had the ability to score pretty much after everytime The Ukraine had a decent chance the Ukrainians didn't really well for first timers at the cup...

Ukraine played well but were outclassed and even though the second goal was very iffy, the game was really not in doubt. Italy did make it interesting when their defense collapsed for a good 15 minute stretch (at one point allowing three golden chances in as many seconds), but they didn't break and that was the difference. It took the wind out of Ukraine's sails, if only momentarily, and Italy managed to capitalize, with a little luck (something in short supply for them in the last four World Cups).
