i just wanted to say,wow i never really realised how much i love and miss him...

i now know what it is like to have someone you love away, and in a dangerous place.

just wanted to share my joy about hearing from my son...i am relieved beyond belief...i know it sounds silly, but i am a mother hen,and for me to not be able to protect him...drives me crazy.

let alone how they isolate them and you just sit...waiting to hear...are you ok...are you happy..lol..yea ft.benning..happy.

me thinks i might join one of those support groups for soldiers families..but i hate people..always..j/k

In one of those support groups I'm sure you will find someone exactly like yourself.... and you know what they say, misery loves company.

Spouses clubs and parent groups are great way to get together with others who are going through the exact same thing. Often times they arrange care packages and whatnot that not only helps themselves deal with their "loss" but also is a great moral booster to their family members in the service.

Join a REAL support group. Not a fake one. You know what I mean.

Look in the GD for a sec, there's a thread for you.

I know some of the DI's done there presently. Even if they're not one he has, I'm sure he's not having an easy time of it. I'm sure he'll do fine though. If I could make it through, anyone can. :)

Since a person needs to be 18 in order to join the US military, I'm sure his son wasn't sent anywhere by him.

Hurray!! :D I remember when my bros did Plebe Summer at USNA, we barely ever heard from them, getting calls from them was most thrilling. The whole week before we'd look forward to it, especially my Dad. He missed them SO much. I can only imagine how much more worried about your son and excited to have heard from him you are! I hope he will remain safe. :)
