Help With Program Installation

This is very odd.

Okay, so I'm trying to install a game on my computer(EverQuest: Titanium if you must know) and it keeps giving me the following error message:

"Setup has encountered an error:

Please do the following:
-Close any running programs.
-Empty your temporary folder.
-Check your Internet connection.

Then try to run the setup again.

Error Code:-6001"

I have done all of that. My internet connection is obviously fine, since I'm able to post here. My temporary folder has been emptied.

I did suspect, at first, that it was my firewall, as I run Sygate Personal Firewall. Various attempts with alternate settings, including just shutting it off, have resulted in failure. Similar attempts with Spyware Blaster, Antivir Antivirus Guard, AND Spybot Search& Destroy have also failed, so they're not interfering, especially since I've never had this kind of problem with installing a program WHILE any of them were on anyway.

It's not the disc. I tested it on my mom's computer and it worked perfectly the first time, on a computer that is far less secure than mine, even. So what could the problem be?

No idea. Then again, I'm really not the person to ask about these things, and I've been struggling with WiFi for my comp the last 3 or so hours, so I'm pretty damn pissed off.

Have you got the x64 version of Windows?

No, x32. I think the problem might be that I screwed something up with Installshield itself. I don't see how, other than when I ran HijackThis a couple months ago, but it's worth looking up.

Peep: A common sense thing that I hadn't tried yet. Dumb me.
