Thank you to everyone who has contacted me already! I still have more surveys to give out and I will be giving them out for the next week or so... Would it be easier if I tried to host it on a website and let everyone download it for themselves and then e-mail it to me? If so, let me know...

How to drastically decrease rape and associated crimes:

Give every woman in the country a Colt .38 Chiefs Special Snubnose Revolver. That'll teach a whole lot of scumbags a lesson right quick.

It might be easier if you post the survey here on NS, so you don't have to email everyone.

Offtopic- St Louis eh? Wierd to know that someone is so close to me off of here :p

Zilam- Yes, I may just post it up tonight and let people download it at will. I just moved to St. Louis a couple of weeks ago from Columbus, OH. So far, I think it's a great place but I haven't had a chance to explore yet.

You should definitly get out and go exploring. I love the St louis area. I am from southern Illinois, just right next door. :) I goto st louis all the time. You choose a good city to move to :)

Funded by the taxpayer, I suppose.

Researchers also are having a hard time finding out what we can do to prevent sexual revictimization in women.

I've trained many women in how to use a pistol in social situations. I have sheltered battered women in my home, bought guns for others, and helped them through their episodes of stalking, beating, and sexual assault.

None of the women, after obtaining a weapon and a protective order, were bothered at all by the men again.

A protective order is generally useless, and often incites more deadly violence - the man takes it as a personal affront. It declares him to be an immediate threat to life and limb.

Interestingly, Virginia self-defense law allows you to shoot people who are an immediate threat to life and limb. So I help the women get carry permits and training.

The man is then notified of this arrangement. It is essentially a legal permit to shoot the man on sight if he violates the protective order.

This works far, far better than calling the police and waiting to see if they even show up (most of the time, they do not, and if they do, it is often over an hour later, after the damage is done).

No men have been shot yet. No men have tried to test it.

Yes, but that is a very specific situation, and is not going to work for the population as a whole. Not enough women will report in the first place. :(

Works for women who report the abuse, which is the usual client at a women's shelter.

Women who go about unarmed after filing for a protective order have just doubled their chance of being killed outright by the man. The protective order is anything but protective if you're counting on the police.

Understood, but so few report abuse for that to really be the answer we need. We need a societal change first. Which is unlikely to happen. At least not any time soon...

Unless you are in a really affluent area where the police can be counted on. Which is... well, not enough places. :(

That works real great, until you're grabbed from behind and on the ground before you can get to your gun...
