WC: Henry screwed Spain over

:headbang: I was completely hoping that France (and f*%#ing Viera) would lose. There was a reasonable chance that Spain would make it through, i mean they hadn't lost at all the whole tournament. But then Henry had to come and f*%# everything up! Did anyone see what a dive that was!! Complete and utter bullsh!t. Now i have nothing against Henry (except for the fact that he plays for Arsenal) and i can freely admit that he is a superb striker, but that dive was just abhorrant and shameful. And then wouldn't you know it set up Viera to score! It makes me want to kill something. :sniper:
Zidanes goal was nice though, got nothing against him.

They didn't lead to a game-changing (and cup-changing) goal did they? Plus i have no love for Torres so you can't say i'm being impartial with that.

Obviously you have some players who are phenomenal footballers. No denying that.
But ignore those for a tad and focus instead on how it is that we seem to get the same teams thru each cup and other teams appear to always be resigned to faltering at the quarter-final hurdle (or indeed the last 16).
Why is that?

Watching this WC, I'm coming to the conclusion that it's not the football skills and ability that puts teams apart, rather their acting skills and knowing when, where and how to milk a penalty.

Teams like Australia haven't enough experience at this level to know how to do this. But Italy does. So when the opportunity presents itself, they dive.
Unfair? Sure. But as long as they get away with it and it wins the game, why shouldn't they? Winning's the important thing after all.

Only way to stop it would be to allow video refs and have it brought up as a disciplinary charge. If a player thought that his dive might result not in a penalty but a possible ##-game suspension, I think we'd see a reduction in the number of theatrics being played out on the field.

 Are you suggesting that we make real footy like American Football! No way! One of the reasons i love football is its simplicity, and that means that every play isn't scrutinized to the smallest detail. I'm not saying change the game at all. I'm just saying that players should have much better ethics than they do and not dive half as much as they do. Their are quite a few players who i think should end their bad ways now. *cough**cough*Drogba*cough*:p

France was better. Get over it. I was on Spain's side too but if they can't score they can't win.

France was going to win anyhow. Once Spain scored on the PK, they didn't have another really good chance until the 85th minute or so, when they were already down. The didn't have enough offense to win it anyhow. Their only hope was to hold on until penalties.

I still think Henry was wrong to do what he did. And also i still hate him. I love his goals but i hate him.
