Looks like some of the redistricting is considered unfair to Hispanics, and some of the other aspects of the case (such as how often you can redistrict) went the way that DeLay wanted.

I'm glad to see they're leaning on the racial gerrymandering as wrong. Though the redistricting whenever one likes would grind most states to a halt as Repubs and Dems will simply fight it out for the entirety of each session to the exclusion of everything else.

All in all, about what I'd expect to see from the court.

I actually just finished reading the article on the NY Times about it. Like you say, it's a mixed bag of a decision. Here's the line from the Times article that made me chuckle:
"Some people are predicting a rash of mid-decade redistricting. I am skeptical," said Richard Hasen, an election law expert at Loyola Law School. "It would be seen as a power grab in a lot of places."
Like the Texas case wasn't a power grab in the first place.

Well, now everyone can redistrict as soon as they get a majority in the statehouse.

A lot of states may now move early to redistrict.

Any idea how many Republican controlled statehouses vs. Democratic controlled statehouses?

Carlos isnt funny to me at all. His jokes are bland and he tries to go with "if you dont laugh at me your an idiot". He thinks he is hot stuff, but he dosnt have anything new to say, he is just some guy making racist jokes and claiming they are not becouse he is a minority and can do that or something. Call me when he says something that hasnt been said more times then there are people on this planet. then i may find him amusing, untill then he is just a guy who yells alot about stupid things trying to get cheap laughs. he is a laugh whore plain and simple (but this can be said about more or less every comidion so really isnt anything bad about him, as his carrier is to be one).

Some people may find him funny, i find him boring
