A few times, people have said or done something that made me think of my favorite comedian, Carlos Mencia, of Mind of Mencia on Comedy Central. He does political jokes, stupid jokes, but mostly racial jokes. I mentioned him to these people, and they had never heard of him. Has anyone heard of him?

yes, I referred to one of his episodes in the Can you choose your race? thread. Maybe you've seen it, the one where he suggests that all of today's interracial couples will result in one race.

Some of his jokes aren't too bad, but other then that I don't like him that much. A few people I know act as if he were the only comedian to ever walk the Earth, it's pretty annoying.

Description: Carlos is a Latino gentleman whose act consists of long winded rants about what is wrong with society and how America treats his people. Perhaps if I was a "beaner" (a term Mencia uses every 3 seconds) I could relate to his problems, but luckily I'm not a West Coast douchebag that blames everyone else for my troubles.

Yes, we know rednecks use spics to do their dirty work, yes we know black people steal, yes we've all thought of the stereotypes you spew out and use to come off as SHOCKING!!! Carlos takes pride in telling it like it is, but odds are we already know what he's talking about.

Carlos will often aide his tiresome material by throwing in more hack accents (or hack-cents) than a UN meeting. Didn't we all grow tired of this shit during the Def Comedy Jam days? Haven't we seen enough of pandering ethnic acts who mug for applause breaks?

In all seriousness folks, please stop emailing me and suggesting I add Carlos to the site. I am blessed to be entrenched in the NYC comedy scene where novelty acts like Carlos are a dime a dozen.

Ned Arnel Mencia (born October 22, 1967), better known by the stage name Carlos Mencia, is a comedian, writer, and actor. He is currently the host of Mind of Mencia, where his excessive use of his favorite catchphrase and word, "Dee-dee-dee!" and "beaner," respectively, is infamous. He was born seventeenth of eighteen children in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. His father, Roberto Holness, is from Honduras and his mother, Magdelena Mencia, is from Mexico and are both Catholic. He was raised in East Los Angeles, California by his aunt Consuela and uncle Pablo Mencia, going by the name Ned Holness in honor of his father. By his own admission, staying out of trouble was difficult growing up, but with the help of his family he excelled in school and stayed out of gangs. He majored in electrical engineering at CSULA but left early to pursue a career in comedy after a successful performance at open mic night at The Laugh Factory.

Yes, Mencia's whole schtick is racist jokes and imitating different groups of people in a near insulting manner. But the delivery and point is different from your average "lol, black people are all like this, arn't they black audience?" comedian. His whole point is that people are like that and no one should be offended that people are like that because it is fact, so he will tell the joke to or do the impression to any audience, not just pandering jokes about sterotypes to the audience that wants to hear them and/or that they pertain to - like Jeff Foxworthy or Def Comedy Jam comedians or any other comedian who makes his/her living doing impressions of the group of people they belong in to an audience of people that are compromised of the same group.

He is trying to make a statement, not just be funny like Def Comedy Jam'sters or complain about things he doesn't like, like Louis Black.

same here. i know his humor is very repetitive and unoriginal, but i still find it really funny. definitely one of my guily pleasure shows.

And the people on that list I have heard of arn't that amazingly funny. Like Dave Attel? Attel was on Mind of Mencia, his jokes consist of basically dick, fart, and midget jokes with a little bit of his opinion of stupid shit mixed in.

sometimes he makes me laugh and I appreciate how he can see the stupidity in all ethnicities and how they act toward themselves and each other, but sometimes I think he will go too far and promote tired old stereotypes that are hardly true.

last night I got pretty annoyed when he was talking about how no man can take seein gwhat his wife does in the bathroom so they better close the fucking door as it disgusts him which somehow leads him to how those faggot metrosexuals should get out of his face cuz he is a real man and when his sweaty sticky balls itch he will stick his hand down his pants to rub them and then smell his finger (which he does as he says it).

so in conclusion, I appreciate his candor and can laugh with him and his audience but will sometimes be annoyed or offended myself when he goes too far or is just hateful rather than funny.
