Yes, they snatched him "illegally" and didn't give him a fair trial, and made him stay awake in his cell, and the French courts rubberstamped his conviction... ROFLMAO

This is the second time that Carlos, who is being held at the Clairvaux prison in southern France, has filed a lawsuit against the French government over his capture, but this is the first time that he has identified one of the organizers of the operation.
The first case went all the way to France's high court, which tossed it out in November 1996.
Carlos, who is comparing his case to that of suspected terrorists allegedly abducted and illegally transferred around the world by the CIA, contends that he has legal grounds for the suit since his presence in France was a result of the "kidnapping of a Venezuelan citizen in Sudan" by French agents working with their Sudanese counterparts.
The alleged kidnapping occurred "outside all legal frameworks" because there were no proceedings to expel Carlos from Sudan or a French extradition request pending against him, according to the nine-page filing.
Carlos also alleges that his captivity in France "has taken place under conditions of total isolation for nearly 10 years, made worse by constant harassment and multiple interruptions of sleep during the night, which has definitely disturbed sleep patterns."

That guy is a stain on my nation...

He will keep whining, anyway. Not anything to pay heed too, in any case. He's a monster and should be treated with all the weight of the law, even grazing the borders :D

Where do you think the US got the fine example of kidnapping terrorists abroad, quietly "interrogating" them, and then shoving them into dark holes forever?

Weird, I was just thinking about the Jackal and rereading his wikipedia entry earlier.

Interestingly, no one seemed to mind that Carlos got kidnapped from a non-French territory (after Sudan was strongarmed into cooperation).

Rendition, it seems, is OK for European nations to do, but not OK for the US.
