I have seen a lot of hatred towards this ethnic minority. I think that if everyone with this attitude towards muslims were to become more accepting of these people, then everyone would me made happier.
Just think. If you treated muslims with the same respect as you did everyone else, there would be less segregation. Okay, this is partly self-segregation, but can you blame them when they are treated as second class citizens by some people? Now I think racial segregation is a bad thing because it just encourages conflict. If people were to mix more, especially children at school, then we would understand each other more. Friendship is much better than unreasonable hatred.
So what do you lot think?
If everyone were to accept different ways of life would this make wherever we live a better place? Or is the only solution to kick all the muslims out of Europe?

Better than Europe, actually. Muslims over here tend to be among the wealthiest and best educated groups in America. New immigrants to this country tend to do pretty well at making a living and finding a place in our society. I guess since we've always been an immigrant nation we've gotten pretty good at welcoming immigrants. Even in the current argument over illegal immigration nobody but the most fringe elements proposes ending all immigration from Mexico.

The latter solution does have a certain appeal, however in the absence of any politicians with a spine, I will merely assert the following. Why on earth am I not allowed to deplore immigrants? I deplore all immigrants, from the first to third generation, irrespective of if they are Muslim, Hindu, Eastern European, Mexican or African. Quite frankly they are not culturally enriching, they are obnoxious drains on my economy and my society.

Being muslim has nothing to do with self-segregation. It seems to me to be too infrequent for people emigrating to another country to integrate fully with that country. Take ex-pat brits in Spain. Notorious for not bothering to become fluent in Spanish, becoming micro-communities on their own etc etc etc.
However, there is good and bad (whether talking immigration or emigration). For example, I notice that these days in the UK, you find shops that open after 16:30 and do not shut down for half a day on wednesdays and saturdays. I see immigrants or their descendants working harder, for longer hours and being more entreprenurial than many "british" people I know.
Plus of course, fish and chips is not the only takeaway food choice we have anymore.

It is dependant upon quite where one considers one's perception of a nation to begin. I consider the idiosyncrasies of Britain, and, indeed, England, to be first evident in the war of the spanish succession, and embryonic empire of the period.
It is an evident truth that no individual can consider himself truly indiginous, however one must find a point wherein the definition is established, and operate from it.

Its not an issue of race that I think most people have a problem with its more religion and how some people exercise it.
I get on well with some muslims and enjoy what they offer in terms of culture and diversity, but the simple fact of the matter is toleration can only be offered to those who espouce it back to us. Friends I know how been to the middle east and they've said they felt threatend because they wernt muslim and to a large extent many muslims are simply "xenophobic" and suspicious of all non muslims. This is not of course all muslims, not even a majority but its enough to merit the concern many have voiced in this debate and in the media.

There is nothing wrong with Islamic cluture persay. What is wrong is when Muslims act unreasonably with regard to certian issues. For instance, the forestgate raid. The police did not find what they were looking for it is true, but they did find £38,000 in used notes. And the brothers who lived there when asked by the police why it was there refused to answer. Then there is the Dainish cartoons issue. Granted there was some peaceful protest, but there was also a great deal of violent and angery protest with slogans such as "Freedom go to hell" and "Europe, take a lesson from 9/11" and "Behead those who insult Islam". Also the protest response to this was far less than the protest response was far more signifcent than the response of Muslims around the world to September 11th attacks or the July 7th attacks or the Madrid attacks (whose date I have forgotten). There is also the view of many Muslims that they should not be offended in any way at all. This includes being shown things that are not of their culture. Such as the council who removed the porcilin pigs from their workplace because they may be offensive to Muslims.
