Couldn't help wondering in the past few weeks... what's your motivation?

Now, to me, it's basically some form of social interaction when at work or bored... or normally both.
I give my opinion on a few topics, correct a couple of people now and then if they try to get away with using incorrect facts to cement their arguments, and I chat with some people in the more spam-orientated threads.

Why do I post here?

Amoung other things, to talk to sexy people like you, Cabra ;)

After several years and over 14,000 posts...I honestly cannot say why I post here.

Because I like distracting myself from the work I should be doing...

i dont know much about anything, and this place keeps me up to date on most relevant issues, so i can sound like i know what im talking about in the real world. every now and then, something comes up that i do know something about, so i post.

and, i dunno... oh, its kinda funny, too :)

1. It's a very active forum with a lot of intelligent people (no really, at least compared to other forums).
2. I like to discuss politics and economics, which are outlawed topics in other forums.
3. I get bored at work. :p

Pretty much the same reason. Work isn't hard enough to keep me occupied, so I get bored whilst not being motivated enough to get on with it.
You lot are my amusement.
I enjoy throwing in statistics or doing maths at people, too.

Social interaction with, for the most part, people I know to be intelligent.

Political extremism gets me hot.

I started to post here because I was unemployed and bored as I waited for my friends to finish work, I had nothing better to do. Then I became addicted and I can't stop myself posting. I enjoy myself here and consider some of you to be my friends. But not Ruffy, I told you not to mention the knife *stabs you* Do as I tell you next time or you get stabbed again! Err...Ruffy?

Of course, when I am bored and my roleplaying threads in the Nationstates forums are not advancing.

But, after a while, I have discovered that reading, posting and sharing things here helps me to create a profile for an opinion matrix about different nationalities in the world, making it a world's mirror. It is a reduced spectrum, I know, but useful to my work as an international journalist.

I'm always astounded by the broad range of opinions, even if many of them make me laugh.

I've been enjoying the World Cup threads, it's good to have some in depth discussion about it.

Otherwise, it's mostly curiosity (I never know what I might be missing on here), interaction and entertainment. I don't really go in for the serious debating.

We're all bored enough to come on here at least once. That first time, the boredom relieved, we realize how wonderful this place is and choose to make it our home. We love it so much we can't leave.

For you and me, I would agree. However, Kanabia has been here since Dec. 03, so perhaps he/she has learned that difference during much more time spent here than us.

I think I originally came here just to see what else there was to NS beyond the simple RP game. I had a different country back then and wanted to have a friendly little war but it didn't pan out and I let that state die out. I came back to it for reasons even I don't know.

pretty much same here - social stuff, especially while at work or sometimes in the evenings. used to be more than that - at uni last year this place was practically my only means of social interaction with people i liked, and a vent to talk about issues and problems with people who seemed to understand or be going through the same kind of thing. this place, and many notable posters, helped me get through a tough time last year, and i feel very much attached to this place as a result, even if i don't post as often as i used to.
then there's the whole thing with glitziness and seeing how we met here, its another reason to sort of.... owe allegiance to NSG :)

then of course there's the debating and stuff, which i enjoyed and needed last year, and still enjoy to an extent (but have admittedly got kinda sick of, heh)

Well, I suppose I originally started posting here out of a sense of curiosity and unwillingness to miss out on something fun going on without me. Now...hey, same reasons. Whenever I can't log on for a little while and come back, I find out I've been missing out on a lot of fun. :cool:

Used to come here for the debates and such. Now? Sheer and absolute boredom.

Mostly because I belong to forums that were or are predominantly full of people to the Left of me, and it makes the discussions more interesting. Yes, I also visit a handful on the Right, but it's rather boring to see a thread where everyone is nodding their head in agreement.

I post here because NS was the FIRST forums I've ever posted on. back in the days when I was serious about the game. now however, I like the variety of personalities here in General and the viewpoints are refreshing.

also it's fun to sit back and just pass the time away with good friends.

I started to post cuz I've always loved political debates so I'd read the threads and watch people bicker and argue. I figure I learn a lot from both sides (sometimes, at least). Even if I have vastly different opinions from other posters, which happens often, they usually explain their position, so I become a better debater, by understanding the entirity of the issue.

Also, its often funny and fun.

Because I'm an idiot, and I just never aeem to learn.
