Limbaugh Stopped at Airport With Drugs

I don't know if anyone has already posted this or not, but I couldn't resist.

Seems Rush was caught at an airport in Florida carrying prescription drugs without a prescription. The bottle had some else's name on it. And to top things of it was a bottle of Viagra. Poor, poor Rush. How embarrassing for him. :D The sheriffs office will be filing a report and may press charges. Some people never learn.

Meh. I don't like Rush, but I could care less about "contraband viagra". It isn't a very restricted item- not like percocets or OC's. Viagra would be over the counter if they didn't have to worry about stupid kids OD'ing on it trying to have the longest hard on.

It is a shame that his previous exploits will go against him in this case. This is really quite trivial. But, of course, he's an asshole, so people will take what they can get.

Hey, when you're one of the most recognizable Bushevik pricks in the nation, you have to do what you can to keep that hard edge going week after week.

So much for rehab. When do we get to lock him up and throw away the key like he said should happen to all druggies?

I'm sorry, but this just underscored Rush's hypocrisy and, I stress, stupidity. Sure, the Viagra is no big deal, but the man has been under scrutiny for illicitly having prescription drugs.

And then his attorney says it was under someone else's name for "privacy reasons."

That's what Dr./Patient priviledge is for. The only way someone would find out about it would be: A. Illegally. B. If someone found it in his bag...at which point, would it really matter whose name it's under?

Well, we all know about it now. Way to keep it private, Rush!

And this will (or should atleast) turn the spot light on his doctor as well. I don't think it's legal (or at the very least ethical) for a doctor to do what Rush's attorney is suggesting he did. Not to mention it makes one wonder what other meds his doctor gives him under another name for privacys sake. If he's willing to do it with Viagra, who is to say he wouldn't do it for oxycotin. This makes his doctor seem very shady.

I'm sure you would be able to get more pay and better conditions if we started investing in a private, market-based system. And in this system, parents would be able to shape more of what they would like to see, and the quality of education would be much improved.

Rush Limbaugh's Attorney Roy Black Responds to Media Inquiries
Mon June 26 2006 21:21:11 ET

Miami, FL -- June 26, 2006 -- Roy Black, Rush Limbaugh's attorney, issued the following statement today in response to several inquiries by the media:

While going through routine Customs inspection of luggage at Palm Beach International Airport upon his return from an international trip, Rush Limbaugh was detained by customs agents after they noticed a non-narcotic prescription drug, which had been prescribed by Mr. Limbaugh's treating physician but labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes. After a brief interview, Mr. Limbaugh was permitted to continue on his journey.

With the sophs, I did Short Shorts(an anthology of VERY short stories), Lord of the Flies and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. The previous term I taught Fahrenheit 451, To Sir with Love, and a poetry unit.

With the seniors, it was Ethan Frome, Macbeth, and Short Stories. The previous term it was Hamlet, Death of a Salesman and 1984.

Actually, teachers are generally paid more poorly in private schools than in public.

And in this system, parents would be able to shape more of what they would like to see, and the quality of education would be much improved.

Parents do have that choice. They can 1) get involved in their child's school; something which I have not seen much of, sadly... the students whose parents I need to speak to most are never available 2) send child to a private school that reflects the parents' opinions on what their children should be exposed to (ah, there are vouchers that help parents do this) or 3) homeschool.

As to the actual thread story, if (and that's a big if) Limbaugh gets in trouble over this, it'll be because he's in violation of the terms of his deferred prosecution, which requires he submit to random drug testing over the next 18 months. Now, in order for the drug testing to avoid false positives, the testing company needs to know every drug you're taking, including prescriptions made out to you. And since the authorities make out the lists that are sent to the testing company, that would mean they'd have to be in on the whole plan to protect Rush's privacy, and that seems like a bit of a stretch.

Yes, but they have to know what you're taking to allow for it. They wouldn't be testing for Viagra, but if they don't know you're taking it, it can cause them to misread the results for other drugs.

Heh. That is indeed scary.

I should note that I don't really care one way or another if anything happens to him over this. I have a general dislike of the two sets of laws on drugs for the rich and the poor, and this story is a shining example of that--get caught with Viagra or Oxycontin, you get one punishment; get caught with weed or crack or meth and it's another set.
