With that finely machined aluminum, you could enrich enough uranium to threaten the U.S.

Ummm... crime knows no boundaries. It's nice to think that, if a situation arises, the criminal will allow you to dial 911, and wait patienty for the police to arrive. And you may use that to justify not having a weapon.

Yet in consideration of the FACT that 94 percent of violent crime in the US is committed by someone with absolutely NO weapon, if you do find yourself in a situation where a criminal (likely unarmed) is threatening you and yours with physical violence, you might wish you had a firearm.

Statistically, most of the time you never need to shoot. People who realize that you're armed and they aren't armed are likely to beat feet.

Mine costed 105$ complete w/ transfer. 95$ for the lower, 10$ for the transfer. And it's complete. Done. All I need is a stock, and I got that for free (Waiting for it to arrive) and a lower parts kit, which will get here soon.

Then an Upper, and that's the most exspensive part. 450$

Okay, TP, here you go.

1) DM wanted an American made weapon instead of the commie guns he so dearly enjoys
2) He found a police officer who was selling AR15s.
3) The officer stripped his patrol rifle of his goodies (Optical sight, stock etc) and sold him the receiver
4) DM had an FFL do the required NCIS check, because DM is a law abiding citizen
5) DM didn't get to talk bull with the FFL long because the NCIS check took 33 seconds (He counted on his watch). DM was releived it was good.
6) DM walks out with a new CMT/STAG arms lower reciever to build into his own USMC rifle copy.
7) DM is happy. Oh so happy.

Go check out Del-Ton's forum on AR-15.com. Set up your account with them (you're an AR15 team member, right?), and you get 2% off your order on most things (I don't think rifle kits are included in that offer). I got this: http://www.del-ton.com/detail.aspx?ID=470 for $407 shipped to CT.

I am currently in the process of building somewhere around my 12th M4gery as we speak. I am using a RRA EOP Upper, a DPMS Chrome lined 16" bbl with a 1X7 twist, chrome bolt and carrier group, ACE M4 SOCOM stock, a charging handel with tactical latch, YHM 4 rail gas block with a flip up sight custom made for it, a Knights RAS forearm freefloated and a couple of other goodies, also has a RRA two stage trigger.

I will see if I can find a camera to take some pics of it
I am also going to have a custom paint job put on when done, I just cant remeber the company name off the top of my head as it keeps changing.

I'm still trying to get a free weekend and figure out what weight ammo will work best with my rifle. It's a 16" barrel with 1:9 twist and no muzzle brake or flash hider.

When I get my digital camera back from my sister (she borrowed it for a trip), I'll take more pics of my rifle and mags. BTW, here's where I got my mags from: http://www.44mag.com/prodinfo.asp?number=DH30B. They're inexpensive, drop free of the magwell, look great, and I've heard good things about them.

I'm happy with a plain jane A2. I'm definetly going to get some sort of Optic for it, not sure which though. Wait, I am getting a leitner-wise Advanced combat bolt and chrome carrier. The bolt is over-engineered to outlast the weapon itself, and the carrier is chrome plated so cleaning is a snap.

Nice firearms. :)

Do you reload for your Mauser, or do you shoot the corrosive surplus ammo that's available? The ammo being corrosive is what turned me away from getting a Mauser, because I don't want to shoot it, and can't reload (I live in an apartment, and can't dedicate the space necessary for the equipment). If there was a commercial supply of non corrosive ammo available for it though, I probably would have gone with a Yugo M-48A Mauser.
Kecibukia
06-07-2006, 14:43
I use the corrosive stuff because it's cheap. Non-corrosive is available, you just have to look in the other sections besides the bargains. Check out CTD or SG.

Dealing w/ it is easy. After you go shooting, you just have to clean it that day. Swab it out w/ some Windex w/ ammonia, run some hot water through it, and dry it. Then do a normal cleaning.

I had DoD finish a background check the other day. They think the same thing about me.

Back on topic, sort of, you can get those forged lowers in an uncompleted state for a little less, but without the background check. Finishing them for you own use is simple and legal. A local gun club has been working on some jigs to make it a hand drill operation.

Even with the '0%' forgings, it's a pretty easy milling operation to finish one. If anyone is interested, I can certainly post more about it.

I like the 69 grain bullets. Black Hills is one of the best manufacturers out there. You can buy them in bulk from quite a few online vendors. Fulton Armory is the first that comes to mind. Lot's better than the Wolf stuff that is advertised in Cheaper than Dirt.
